Skies are mostly clear early this Wednesday morning and temperatures are a few degrees higher than this time yesterday with readings ranging from the mid 40s here in Clifton to the mid 30s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Today we will have a mix of clouds and sunshine, with milder temperatures.

A cold front will come through on Thursday with just a slight chance of a shower, it will be mild with highs reaching the 70 degree mark.

High pressure will be in control of our weather Friday through the middle of next week, Friday and Saturday will be cool but a warming trend will start on Sunday and continue into the middle of next week with highs Tuesday and Wednesday well up into the 70s.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Nicole is about 330 miles south-southwest of Bermuda and is expected to move over or very close to the island on Thursday, top winds are 105 mph.

We have clear skies and nearly calm winds permitting the temperatures to fall to their lowest levels since last May with readings ranging from the low 40s in the Clifton area to even some upper 20s further inland, frost warnings are in effect for inland areas this morning.

High pressure will be in control of our weather today and on Wednesday giving our area dry conditions, today will be mostly sunny but more cloudiness is possible on Wednesday, temperatures will be seasonably cool.

Slightly milder on Thursday ahead of a weak cold front that will cross the area at night, no precipitation is expected with the front.

High pressure will then build back into the area for Friday and be with us through the weekend, temperatures will be seasonably cool Friday and Saturday with milder temperatures Sunday and Monday, no precipitation is expected as our dry pattern continues.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and temperatures have dipped to the low 40s here in Clifton to the upper 30s further inland, winds are from the north-northeast averaging 10-15 mph.

Today we should see plenty of sunshine with cool temperatures, winds will be gusty out of the north-northeast due to a tight pressure gradient between high pressure building from Canada and the remains of Matthew which is moving up off the Canadian Maritime area.

Winds will diminish this evening and with clear skies and light winds will cause frost to develop mainly over inland areas.

Dry weather should continue Tuesday through the weekend, temperatures will moderate Wednesday and Thursday before a cold front crosses the area on Thursday night, then cooler weather will prevail Friday into the weekend.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories will linger into Tuesday morning then drop below advisory levels Tuesday afternoon and remain below advisories levels through the day on Thursday, possible small craft advisory conditions Thursday night into Friday morning.

TROPICS:   The remains of Matthew have finally moved well off shore east of the Canadian Maritime region while Tropical Storm Nicole is headed toward Bermuda and is expected to again become a hurricane.

Skies are cloudy across the area and there is rain falling over the eastern parts of the area, temperatures range from the mid 50s here in Clifton to near 50 inland, winds are from the north with speeds averaging 10-15 mph.

Precipitation from Tropical cyclone Matthew along with a front moving offshore will end this morning across our area but it will become windy and cool with highs barely reaching the 60 degree mark despite some sunshine in the afternoon.   Tonight will be quite cool with lows falling to near 40 in the Clifton area to the mid 30s inland.

We should see plenty of sunshine on Columbus Day with diminishing winds.  Frost is likely at night with clear skies and light winds, temperatures will fall into the 30s with some readings near freezing inland.

Dry weather will persist Tuesday through at least the early part of next weekend, temperatures will moderate to near or slightly above normal.

TROPICS:  Matthew has lost it tropical characteristics and now is being named a post tropical storm.  Matthew will slowly move off the Outer Banks of North Carolina and still give that area high winds, heavy rain and storm surge.  Matthew has caused torrential rain and very serious flooding to the eastern sections of the Carolinas.

Skies have become cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures range from the low 50s in the Clifton area to the low 40s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Today we will have considerable cloudiness as a cold front approaches the area and some high clouds filter north from Hurricane Matthew.  Some rain will develop this afternoon and continue into Sunday morning as some moisture from Matthew moves up along the coast ahead of the cold front.

We should see some clearing Sunday afternoon and it will become breezy and cooler.

Mainly dry next week with seasonably cool temperatures.

OUTLOOK – Gale warnings from 6 a.m. till 8 p.m. on Sunday.  Small craft advisories expected Monday through Wednesday.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Matthew is just off the South Carolina coast and will move along the coast reaching the Wilmington, North Carolina area and then move out to seas, expect torrential rain, high winds and dangerous storm surge in those areas, the storm will then move offshore and weaken.  Some of the moisture from the storm may affect the New Jersey coastal areas early Sunday.
