Skies are partly cloudy early this Friday morning and temperatures range from around 30 here in Clifton to some upper teens in some of the inland valleys, winds are light.

Today we will see an increase of clouds and there is a chance of drizzle by late this afternoon, temperatures will be slightly above normal.

An onshore flow along with a weak disturbance will cause mainly light drizzle on Saturday which may begin as a mixture of light snow or sleet inland, a winter weather advisory was issued for inland areas.  Temperatures will rise into the 40s by the afternoon.

A stronger disturbance will cause rain heavy at times on Sunday mostly falling in the morning, a strong southerly wind will boost temperatures well up into the 50s with some record highs possible.

Much colder weather to start the work week with the next chance of precipitation is on Wednesday with snow showers possible.

THE FORECAST:

OUTLOOK – Gale watch for Sunday with small craft advisories possible on during the day on Monday and again on Tuesday.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and there is a big spread in temperatures with readings in the low 20s here in Clifton to some single digits in the colder valleys, winds are nearly calm.

I replaced the battery in my weather station’s outside sensor and now we are back online.

Today we should see an increase in clouds this afternoon, temperatures will be mild with highs slightly higher than yesterday and with light winds it will feel rather comfortable.

Friday will continue to be on the mild side but a weak disturbance will cause some light rain to develop after midnight which may start off as sleet or freezing rain well inland.

A chance of light rain will continue on Saturday with mild temperatures.

A stronger system will cause rain moderate to heavy at times Saturday night into Sunday, winds will become southerly with temperatures reaching the 50s before a cold front comes through late in the day.

Colder next week but not as frigid as we had early this week, at this time it will be mainly dry put there is an indication of a possible coastal storm around Wednesday to early if it will affect our weather but it will be cold enough for any precipitation to fall as snow.

WEATHER HISTORY:   Today is the 20th anniversary of the Blizzard of 1996,  the snow began around 9 a.m. on the 7th and continued very heavy into the morning of the 8th dumping over two feet of snow in the area.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range for the upper teens here in Clifton to some single digits in the colder valleys, winds are nearly calm so it is not as harsh outside as this time yesterday.

Strong high  pressure over the area will produce plenty of sunshine today and with temperatures approaching the 40 degree mark along with very light winds it will feel much more comfortable than the last couple of days.

High pressure will move off the coast that will give us dry conditions Thursday into the day on Friday with mild temperatures.

A weak low pressure area will give us some light precipitation Friday night into Saturday, this precipitation may start as a mixture of sleet and freezing rain but change to plain rain on Saturday.

A stronger low pressure system will likely give us significant rain on Sunday with the heaviest falling in the morning, a surge of warmer air will move into the area with temperatures reaching the 50s.

Dry weather early next week with colder temperatures.

Skies are clear over the area early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are the coldest since early last March, the reading in Clifton has dropped to 7 degrees with temperatures just below zero in the colder suburbs, winds are still gusty and wind chills values are below zero.

NOTE:  My weather station has stopped reporting, I will probably have to change the outside battery and I will wait till it gets warmer to change it.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine but temperatures should remain below freezing all day but with much less wind.

It will become milder tomorrow after a chilly start and highs should reach the low 40s which is slightly above normal.

Mild and dry weather Thursday and Friday.

Rain will be likely over the weekend as we will be affected by two separate storm systems.   It will be mild so almost all of the precipitation will fall as rain although some of the colder suburbs may have some freezing rain or sleet early Saturday.

Another Arctic airmass will bring back colder weather next week.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures have dropped to the upper 20s here in Clifton to the upper teens in the colder suburbs, winds have become northerly. Some snow flurries have been reported in northwest New Jersey and the Poconos.

Arctic air will be over us today, temperatures will not rise much or at all today with most readings staying in the 20s and with a brisk wind will drop wind chill values to the single digits, skies will be partly to mostly sunny however there still may be some flurries mainly across the Poconos.

Tonight will easily be the coldest night of the season as temperatures drop to the low teens in Clifton to the single digits inland, with much lower wind chill values.

Tuesday will be a mostly sunny day, still very cold but with diminishing winds.

After another quite cold morning on Wednesday temperatures will moderate into the 40s during the day along with plenty of sunshine.

Still dry Thursday and most of Friday with slightly above normal temperatures.

The next chance of precipitation will be over the weekend with two storms one on Saturday and a second storm later on Sunday, at this time it looks like it will be warm enough that any precipitation will fall as rain.
