At 6am we have partly cloudy skies in the area, temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the upper 20s further inland, winds are from the west 5-10 mph.

Today will be a rather nice day with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures near the 40 degree mark.

Clouds will increase tonight with light snow beginning after midnight, colder temperatures can be expected with a low around 20.

Mainly just light snow during the day on Monday with an inch or two accumulating by evening.

The fun begins Monday night as a coastal storm rapidly intensifies off our coast and slowly moves up the coast, expect snow very heavy at time Monday night through Tuesday evening and with winds gusting to 40 mph blizzard or near blizzard conditions can be expected.   At the present time the American model is indicating around 18 inches of snow for our area while the European model is showing an unbelieveable 36 inches, as of now I think 18-24 inches of windswept snow is likely.

Sunshine returns on Wednesday as we dig out with cold temperatures.

Slightly milder Thursday and Friday but we may have some light snow Thursday night.

At this time the weekend looks to be cold and dry.

THE FORECAST:

TONIGHT – Becoming cloudy with light snow developing after midnight, low around 20.

MONDAY – Light snow, accumulations 1-2 inches by evening, high in the upper 20s.

MONDAY NIGHT – Snow, very heavy at times with near blizzard conditions, low around 20.

TUESDAY – Snow, very heavy at times with blizzard conditions possible, winds gusting to 40 mph, high in the upper 20s, snow tapering off in the evening, total accumulations 18-24 inches possible.

Early this morning we have snow mixed with a little sleet, at 6am 5.5 inches of snow has fallen in Clifton, temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the upper 20s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Snow mixed with rain and sleet will continue this morning with another 1-2 of accumulation, this afternoon we should only see some freezing drizzle mixed with light snow which will end by this evening.

Sunday will be a mostly sunny day with seasonable temperatures.

Another potentially stronger storm will be moving offshore on Monday, at this time most of the snow will be just to our south and east but this will be a close call and needs to be closely watched, areas to the south and east of the Clifton area has the highest chance of a quite significant snow, at this time we will only forecast a chance of light snow.  It will be colder so if we do receive any accumulation the snow will be more fluffy unlike the heavier wet snow that has fallen today.

Dry and very cold Tuesday and Wednesday.

Not as cold Thursday and Friday and we may see some light snow on Thursday night.

The area has clear skies early this morning and temperatures range from the low 20s in the Clifton area to the teens further inland, winds are light.

Today will be a rather nice winter day with plenty of sunshine, light winds and high temperatures around the 40 degree mark.

Skies will become cloudy tonight with snow arriving shortly after midnight, the snow will continue Saturday morning and then mix with sleet and rain, total accumulations should be around 3-5 inches with the precipitation ending in the evening.

Sunshine will return on Sunday with near normal temperatures, with highs in the upper 30s.

Another storm will be moving up the coast on Monday, the computer models with this system are not in agreement yet with most guidance showing only a minor event while the American model indicates a more significant event.  The temperatures will be colder so any precipitation will fall as snow.  The timing of the event is pretty similar to Saturday’s storm with snow beginning before daybreak and ending by evening.

Much colder air will follow the storm for Tuesday and Wednesday with a slight moderation in temperatures on Thursday, dry conditions will prevail.

We have cloudy skies with a couple of flurries in the area, temperatures range from the upper 20s in the Clifton area to the low 20s further inland, winds are light.    We had no snow accumulation since yesterday in the Clifton area only a few flurries while Southern New Jersey picked up a couple of inches.

Today we will have cloudy skies with a couple of early flurries then it will become mostly sunny, temperatures will be rather pleasant for this time of year with highs near 40, winds will be light.

Friday will be another pleasant day with continued pleasant temperatures, sunny conditions and light winds.

On Saturday a storm system will be affecting our area, the computer models have come into better agreement, the European model which yesterday showed our area getting blasted with a foot of snow have backed off from that outcome.  At this time it appears that snow will begin before daybreak on Saturday, possibly mixing with sleet and rain and ending by evening, at this time 2-4 inches of snow is possible.

Sunday we will be between the two storms with the area enjoying mostly sunny skies and with seasonable temperatures.

With Monday’s storm the computer models are again not in agreement, this time the American model has the most snow with over 8 inches while the European model has much less, with this storm it will be colder so what falls will be in the form of snow with no mixing issues.

Skies are mostly clear at daybreak this early Wednesday morning, temperatures are colder than the last couple of mornings ranging from around 20 in the Clifton area to the lower teens further inland, winds are light.

Today we will see increasing cloudiness, temperatures will be cooler than the last couple of days mainly in the mid 30s.

A weak fast moving low pressure area will be moving to our south tonight and we should see some light snow accumulating to around an inch in the Clifton area with higher amounts across Southern New Jersey.

Thursday and Friday will be dry with seasonably cold temperatures.

We then turn our attention to two coastal storms one on Saturday and then another storm on Monday that have the chance to give our area significant snow both days, as always the amount of snow will depend on the track, speed and intensity of these storms.  We will be in between these two systems on Sunday and that day will likely be dry with seasonable temperatures.  In the meantime I will have to look to see if my wife put that snowy shower curtain back up.
