This upcoming week does not appear at this time to be as rainy as I first thought, today and Tuesday will be mainly dry although a weak thundershower can not be ruled out. Wednesday looks to be the wettest day of the upcoming week. Quite warm and humid weather from Thursday through next weekend with chances of thunderstorms each day but most of the time it will stay dry..

Very heavy rain in many parts of the area caused flash flooding, here in Clifton we had a storm that hit around 4pm that gave us over an inch of rain in an hour, some areas in NW New Jersey and also Central NJ were hit even harder. Today the chances of showers and thunderstorms continue. The weather improves for a day on Monday but from Tuesday through the end of the week thunderstorm chances increase along with warm and humid conditions.

We have had many nice weekends this summer for outdoor activities but lots of clouds and showers will be around especially for today, although it won’t be raining all the time. Sunday shower chances will decrease so it should be the best day of the weekend. Monday will be the only day that the rain chances will be low as the rest of next week look warm and humid with shower and thunderstorm chances each day.

Quite warm and humid conditions with still some thunderstorms around into the weekend!


Most of the area escaped damage from the line of strong to severe thunderstorms that came through yesterday evening, however there were some scattered reports of wind damage including injuries in Rockaway in Morris County when a tree hit a house.

Very warm to hot day today with some afternoon thunderstorms. Saturday looks a tad less hot and humid but thunderstorms chances will persist. Sunday into Monday looks like will have the best weather before shower chances increase again from Tuesday through most of next week. Looking at the long range models it appears that we will go from a hot and dry pattern to a warm and humid one with more chances of rain as we head into August.

Heat and humidity returning along with a high chance of severe thunderstorms!


After having one of the best weather days yesterday, today will be quite a bit different. This morning clouds and some showers are moving through the area as a warm front approaches and passes through. Between about 10am and 4pm it should be rain free and with some sunshine temperatures will soar along with the humidity. This in turn will destabilize the atmosphere and there is an excellent chance of severe thunderstorms in parts of our area.. These storms have the potential to produce very heavy rain, damaging winds and hail along with a slight chance of an isolated tornado.
More thunderstorms Friday and Saturday are possible. Sunday and Monday will have the best weather.

Yesterday we had strong storms in the area but most missed the Clifton area as I only recorded only .23″ of rain, some areas in Sussex County received nearly 6 inches of rain, also strong winds and hail were reported from Sussex county down through central New Jersey. Today will be more tranquil as a cold front crosses the area later this morning, it will be hot but much less humid in the afternoon with a nice breeze.
