Mild with rain developing Sunday afternoon!


Temperatures this morning are in the mild 40s, the precipitation that was in the forecast to start this morning will now hold off to this afternoon and the weather advisory for freezing rain and snow in Northwest New Jersey was canceled. Just plain rain this afternoon ending by Monday morning but then another storm system will give us more rain Monday night into Tuesday afternoon. Dry Wednesday and early Thursday before another storm system that should give us more rain late Thursday into Friday. Temperatures this coming week should be well above normal and the chances of a white Christmas are now very low for this area.

Monday – Cloudy with rain ending in the early morning but redeveloping late Monday afternoon, high near 50.
Tuesday – Rain ending in the middle of the afternoon, quite mild, high in the mid 50s.
Wednesday – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s.
Thursday – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s, rain developing at night.
Friday – Cloudy with rain likely, high in the upper 40s.
Saturday – Mostly cloudy and cooler, high near 40.

Marine Forecast: Today – East-southeast wind to 10 knots, seas 3 feet.
Outlook – Small craft advisory to gale warnings likely be needed Tuesday into Wednesday and again late Thursday into Friday..

Nice weather today but rain on Sunday!


Today we will have plenty of sunshine with temperatures a couple of degrees lower than yesterday’s 51 degrees.. Tomorrow rain will develop in the morning but start out as snow or freezing rain well inland, this rain will continue until Monday morning. There will be a brief break in the precipitation Monday afternoon before the next storm system approaches and gives us more rain Monday night into Tuesday. Mainly dry Wednesday and Thursday before another storm system moves into our area for Friday. Luckily temperatures will be above normal next week so almost all of the precipitation will be in the form of just plain rain.

Tonight – Increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain developing after 3am, low in the mid 30s.
Sunday – Cloudy with rain into the night, highs in the mid 40s.
Monday – Rain in the morning, just cloudy in the afternoon but more rain by evening, high in the upper 40s.
Tuesday – Cloudy with rain, high near 50.
Wednesday – Mostly cloudy, high in the mid 40s.
Thursday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.
Friday – Cloudy with a chance of rain, high in the low 40s.

Marine Forecast: Today – North-northeast winds to 10 knots, diminishing in the afternoon, seas 1-2 feet.
Outlook: Sub-advisory level winds into Monday but fog may be a problem on Monday, advisories will probably be needed for Tuesday and Wednesday and again on Friday!

Mild Friday after a frosty start!


Temperatures this morning ranged from near 30 in Clifton to the upper teens over parts of Sussex county, today with plenty of sunshine temperatures will rise quickly after sunrise an hit close to 50 degrees by early this afternoon. Saturday we will have increasing clouds it will be a couple of degrees cooler than today. Precipitation chances increase on Sunday but it looks to be just plain rain although it may start as snow or sleet well inland. Rain should continue into Monday. The coastal storm that we have been watching now may be far enough to our east to be any big problem in our area, still a couple of days to watch this storm..

Quiet weather the next three days!


High pressure will be in control of the weather today and Friday with temperatures in the 40s today and near 50 on Friday. A weak storm will move into the area on Sunday that will give us some light precipitation that may start out as snow or sleet as early as late Saturday night, this precipitation should be just light rain that will probably last into Monday morning.
Still keeping an eye out for a potential strong coastal storm late Tuesday into Wednesday, still some spread on the computer models on the track, intensity and speed of this storm but it is trending now closer to the coast which would mean less frozen precipitation but more heavy rain and wind, details will be better in the next couple of days.

Temperatures this morning are about 10-15 degrees cooler than yesterday morning but just about normal for this time of year, here in Clifton it is 31 degrees. Today we will have some filtered sunshine as some high clouds from a low pressure system well offshore will be present most of the day. Thursday into Saturday will be dry with seasonably mild temperatures. The next chance of precipitation will be on Sunday that may start out as a snow or freezing rain across northwest New Jersey. Models are indicating a potential for a coastal storm around next Wednesday, something to keep an eye on.
