As the ball drops tonight skies will be partly cloudy and the temperature will be right around the 20 degree mark, winds will still be gusty so people that go to Times Square tonight should bundle up.

New Years’s Day will be dry with continued cold temperatures.

Snow will develop Thursday morning and remain mostly light during the day, however as the storm develops snow will become heavy at times Thursday night into early Friday, my first guess of accumulation is in the 5-8 inch range.

The snow will be followed by the coldest air of the season with strong winds on Friday with high temperatures not getting out of the teens and with those winds, wind chills will be well below zero.   Friday night temperatures will drop to the single digits with some below zero readings further inland.

Saturday will be dry and rather cold.
