Dry and cold the rest of the work week! Significant winter storm likely on the weekend!


We have clear skies this morning and cold temperatures as readings are near 20 degrees in the Clifton area with teens inland. Be careful going outside today since there may be icy spots on untreated sidewalks and roads. Yesterday I measured 3 inches of snow.
The rest of this work week will be dry and cold with highs near the freezing mark and lows in the teens.
Another winter storm is likely to affect our area on the weekend with the best chance of precipitation late in the day Saturday into Sunday morning.. The computer models have come in colder with this storm so most areas will experience snow that may change to rain along coastal areas but inland the snow may change to freezing rain. Too early for details on amounts.
After the storm we will have cold and dry weather into the early part of next week.

Thursday – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 20s.
Friday – Partly sunny, high in the low 30s.
Saturday – Snow likely by the afternoon continuing at night, high in the mid 30s.
Sunday – Snow changing to rain or freezing rain before ending around noon, high near 40.
Monday – Mostly sunny, high near 30.
Tuesday – Partly sunny, high in the low-mid 30s.

Marine forecast: Small craft advisory in effect till 11am for west winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-4 feet.
Outlook – Advisories may be needed on Thursday and then for the coastal storm on the weekend.

Quick moving storm will dump 3-5 inches of snow today followed by very cold weather the rest of the week!


Skies are cloudy in the area with most temperatures around around the 30 degree mark.
Snow is advancing toward us and should reach our area around 8am. Snow will becoming heavy at time especially 9am-2pm with a quick 3-5 inches of inches expected. The storm will be out of here by this evening with most snow over by 4pm.
Colder weather will follow the storm for the rest of the week with most high temperatures barely reaching the 30 degree mark and lows in the teens.
The next shot of precipitation is with a storm moving into the area on Saturday, at the present time it appears that it will be a snow changing to rain situation.
Clearing on Sunday and cold again early next week.

Icy Monday morning commute; More snow on Tuesday!


Temperatures this morning are at or just below freezing across the area and freezing light rain and drizzle is occurring causing slippery conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks so be careful traveling this morning. Temperatures will gradually rise above freezing this morning so precipitation will change to all rain before ending this afternoon as readings rise into the 40s.
Another wave of low pressure will cause more precipitation on Tuesday this time in the form of snow. Snow should start before daybreak and end in the afternoon, right now an average of 1-3 inches can be expected by higher amounts are possible in heavier snow bands. Very difficult to predict where these snow bands will occur, just like yesterday when parts of Southern New Jersey and the Philadelphia area received an unpredicted 9 inches of snow.
Cold arctic air will be over us from Wednesday through Friday with Thursday being the coldest day.
Temperatures moderate a little on Saturday but another storm system may give the area another round of winter type precipitation Saturday night into Sunday..

Marine Forecast: Small craft advisory issued through this afternoon for east winds becoming west to 20 knots, seas 4-6 feet.
Outlook – Advisories likely Tuesday and Wednesday dropping below advisory levels on Thursday and Friday.

Increasing clouds with snow developing by evening, changing to rain on Monday!


Temperatures are colder than the last few mornings with readings in the low to mid 20s in the Clifton area to the teens further inland, skies are mostly clear.
Today we will see skies become cloudy with a chance of some snow by late this afternoon, snow should then mix with sleet late at night before changing to just plain rain early Monday morning.
Inland the change over to rain won’t be until later Monday morning.. Accumulations will range from 1-2″ in the Clifton area to 2-3″ further inland. This is a tricky forecast since a degree or two warmer or colder will make quite a difference on what type of precipitation will fall.
Precipitation will end as rain Monday afternoon.
Another wave of low pressure may give us a light coating of snow on Tuesday.
Quite cold and dry weather Wednesday through Friday, with a slight moderation in temperatures by next weekend.

Cold and dry Saturday; Snow developing Sunday night, Wintery commute likely Monday morning!


We have cloudy skies in the Clifton area with temperatures in the low 30s, the precipitation has ended with nothing frozen falling in our area with only a coating of snow in far Northwest New Jersey and the Poconos.
Today will a dry and seasonable cold day.
On Sunday we will have increasing cloudiness with snow developing by Sunday night, with the snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain by Monday morning. We may pick up a couple of inches of the white stuff before it changes all to rain later Monday morning. Rain should end Monday evening.
On Tuesday there is still a chance of snow showers followed by very cold but dry conditions Wednesday through the end of next week.

Tonight – Increasing clouds, low in the mid 20s.
Sunday – Cloudy with a chance of snow developing after 4pm, high in the mid 30s. Snow at night, mixing with sleet and freezing rain after midnight, 1-2 inches accumulations likely.
Monday – Morning mix of rain and sleet changing to all rain by noon, high in the mid-upper 40s.
Tuesday – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers, high in the mid 30s.
