Heavy rain and mild for Christmas Eve! Clearing but windy on Christmas!


Steady rain has moved into the area early this morning and temperatures in the Clifton area are in the mild mid 40s, winds are light.

We should have rain today which will be heavy at times into tonight, temperatures will be steady in the 40s most of the day but as a warm front passes through our area toward evening temperatures will rise quickly into the 50s, there is also a chance of a rare thunderstorm tonight, expect one to one and a half inches of rain.

The rain will end on Christmas morning followed by clearing in the afternoon, it will be quite windy.  Temperatures will be in the 50s on Christmas morning and fall into the 40s by sunset.

Friday and Saturday look to be outstanding weather days for this time of year with plenty of sunshine, light winds and high temperatures in the 50s.

Unsettled and cooler weather is expected Sunday into early next week with a chance of rain on Sunday and Monday and snow or rain on Tuesday.

 

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Rain, heavy at times, high in the mid 50s.

TONIGHT – Showers, some may be heavy at times with a chance of a thunderstorm, gusty winds possible, low around 50.

CHRISTMAS DAY – Shower ending around 9am followed by clearing in the afternoon, windy, highs in the mid  50s in the morning falling to the mid 40s by sunset.

FRIDAY – Sunny, high near 50.

SATURDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the low 50s.

SUNDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, high in the upper 40s.

MONDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, high in the low 40s.

TUESDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow, high in the upper 30s.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect for east-northeast winds becoming southerly up to 30 knots, seas 5-9 feet.

Gale watch until 7pm on Christmas Day.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Friday through Sunday.
