Rainy Saturday! Dry and windy Sunday! Nor-easter likely Monday night into Wednesday!


We have cloudy skies at daybreak this morning with some light rain in the area, temperatures range from the upper 30s in the Clifton area to the low 30s across northwest New Jersey, winds are light.

Today we will have periods of rain this morning with more steady rain this afternoon and evening, temperatures will rise to near the 50 degree mark. The rain will end shortly after midnight and it will become windy.

Sunday will be a chilly and windy day but with plenty of sunshine.

A potentially strong coastal storm will affect our area Monday night through Wednesday with heavy precipitation and gusty winds. Precipitation type will be mainly rain but areas north and west may see accumulating snows at the beginning of the storm Monday night and at the end of the storm Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.  Stay tuned for further updates on this potentially  high impact event.

We should have some clearing later on Wednesday but it should be windy with some rain or snow showers.

Dry with chilly but not unseasonably cold temperatures Thursday and Friday.

More rain on the way for later today and Saturday! Possible nor-easter Monday night into Tuesday!


Skies are partly cloudy at daybreak this Friday morning with temperatures ranging from the upper 20s in the Clifton to some upper teens well inland, winds are light.

An area of low pressure will move into our area from the west today with clouds increasing and a chance of rain developing by late this afternoon that may start off as a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain across the Poconos and far northwestern New Jersey.  Rain will fall tonight.

Rain will persist most of Saturday into Saturday night, temperatures however will rise into the 50s.

The rain will end before daybreak on Sunday with clearing during the day but it will be windy and cooler.

Watching for the potential of a nor-easter affecting our area from Monday night through Tuesday night, some computer models have the storm well offshore and not affecting our area while the European model shows the storm in our area, at this time it appears that most of the precipitation would fall as rain, however if the storm is stronger some cold air may be pulled into our area and we could have more snow, still plenty of time to watch how this situation develops.

Dry with seasonably cold temperatures expected Wednesday and Thursday.

Today we will enjoy plenty of sunshine, temperatures will be seasonably cool topping off in the low 40s.

Clouds will return on Friday with rain developing after 3pm and continuing at night, some of this precipitation may begin as sleet and freezing rain well inland across the Poconos and far northwest New Jersey.

Saturday will be mild but rain most of the day and night with possibly 1-2 inches falling.

Clearing and windy on Sunday with cooler temperatures.

Unsettled weather returns for Monday and Tuesday with again a chance of rain.

It is a cloudy and foggy start to this Wednesday morning with temperatures mainly in the upper 30s, winds are light and there are some drizzle and light rain in the area.

Today will be a mild day but overcast skies will persist along with some drizzle and light rain, temperatures will rise to near the 50 degree mark.

Thursday will be dry with some sunshine but with cooler temperatures.

We will then have an extended period of cloudiness with rain chances from Friday evening through at least the early part of next week.  Most of the precipitation during this  period should fall as rain with only the far inland suburbs will have chances of frozen precipitation..

Colder today with some winter precipitation this afternoon and evening!


Skies are mainly cloudy early this morning and temperatures mostly in the low 30s, winds are northerly around 10 mph.

We will stay cloudy today with precipitation beginning as a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain this afternoon and continuing this evening, little or no accumulations are expected in the Clifton area but up to an inch of the mixed precipitation my accumulate inland.  The precipitation will change to all rain after midnight as temperatures rise.

We will have rain and drizzle mainly in the morning on Wednesday along with milder temperatures.

Dry with seasonable temperatures on Thursday.

We then enter a period of unsettle weather from Friday afternoon till early next week with chances of precipitation each day, temperatures will be a little milder so most if not all the precipitation will fall as rain.

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect till 6pm on Wednesday for northeast-east winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – Mainly sub-advisory level conditions through the weekend although advisories may be needed for higher seas on the ocean on Saturday.

 

CLIMATE – November 2014 was 2.7 degrees below normal which was the coldest November since 1996.  Precipitation was just close to normal with just over 4 inches recorded.  Snowfall was 3 inches for the month, November on average gets less than 1 inch of snow.

LONG RANGE OUTLOOK – It appears that the first half of December will be milder than normal.
