A very cold and windy Saturday. Not as cold on Sunday. Winter storm late Sunday night into Monday!

We have clear skies at 6am in the Clifton area and temperatures have fallen to 10 degrees, inland readings are in the single digits and with winds gusting to 30 mph is bringing wind chills to well below zero so bundle up.

Today will continue have very cold and windy conditions with highs only a few degrees above the 20 degree mark and with the winds it again will make it feel much colder.  Diminishing winds by this evening and overnight lows will be about 5-10 higher than this morning’s low.

Skies will become cloudy on Sunday and it will be noticeably less cold and windy with highs in the 30s.

A storm system will move from the southeast states to off our coast on Monday, snow should start in our area in the late evening on Sunday and continue on Monday, the precipitation may mix with sleet and freezing rain during the day Monday before changing back to all snow which will end by evening, accumulations of 8-12 inches can be expected, the lower amounts will happen if we have more of a mix.

After the storm’s passage it will become very cold with temperatures on Tuesday morning may approach zero with daytime highs only in the low 20s.

Not as cold on Wednesday and it will be dry, however we do have a low chance of some more light snow Wednesday night into Thursday as a cold front moves through the area.

Fair and again very cold on Friday.

Have a good day!

A little light snow this morning then becoming windy and much colder; Significant snowstorm becoming more likely for Monday!

Some very light snow is falling at 6am this morning in the Clifton area, temperatures are milder than yesterday morning with a 30 degree reading in Clifton ranging to the mid 20s in colder inland spots, winds are light, overnight accumulation is about an inch.

This morning we will have periods of light snow or flurries with little or no additional accumulation.  Skies will clear this afternoon but it will become very windy and much colder, late morning highs in the 30s will fall to 20 degrees by late this afternoon and with the winds it will feel that much colder.

Tonight will be bitterly cold with lows by Saturday morning in the single digits and with winds gusting to 40 mph will help bring wind chill values to -10 or lower, a wind advisory along with a wind chill advisory is in effect for our area.

Saturday will be a sunny day but very cold and windy, winds will die down by late in the afternoon.

Dry most of the day on Sunday with a slight moderation in temperature.

Now to the next storm, computer models have become in better agreement and now most are indicating a significant snowstorm for our area starting late Sunday night and continuing on Monday, my first guess in accumulations are in the 6-10 inch range, of course that will probably change as we get closer to the event.

Dry but frigid on Tuesday.

Watching for the potential of another storm for late Wednesday into Thursday.

Dry and chilly during the day today; light snow tonight; good chance of snow on Monday!

At 6am this morning the temperature in Clifton is in the low teens, further inland some below zero readings with Walpack, NJ reporting a frigid temperature of -7 degrees, skies are mostly clear and the winds are light.

Today we will have increasing cloudiness, high temperatures will be similar to yesterday.

Light snow will develop late tonight and end Friday morning as a weak clipper system moves through our area. Expect 1-2 inches of accumulation.

The storm will be followed by clearing skies on Friday with rapidly falling temperatures, readings in the low 30s during the late morning will fall to around 20 by sunset and with winds gusting to 35 mph will bring wind chill values below zero.

Saturday will be very cold but we will have plenty of sunshine, early morning temperatures will be in the single digits.

Partly sunny and not as cold on Super Bowl Sunday but a stronger low pressure system is expected to give us a good chance of snow late at night.

The computer models are still not agreeing with how much snow we may get on Monday with the American model showing a possible 6-10 inch snowfall while the European model only indicating an inch or two as it has the storm moving too far south to give us significant snow, so again stay tuned.

Dry and frigid on Tuesday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Increasing cloudiness, high in the low 30s.

TONIGHT – Light snow developing late tonight, low in the mid 20s.

FRIDAY – Light snow ending by 9am with total accumulations of 1-2 inches, clearing during the day, late morning highs in the low 30s dropping to near 20 by sunset, winds increasing with gusts to 35 mph possible.

MARINE FORECAST – TODAY – South-southeast wind to 9 knots, seas 1-2 feet.

Small craft advisory will be in effect from 11pm tonight till 6am on Friday with gale warnings from 6am on Friday till 6am on Saturday.

OUTLOOK – Mainly small craft conditions Saturday though Wednesday.

Have a good day!

Dry and cold today; Light snow Thursday night into Friday morning; Another significant winter storm Sunday night into Monday!

Skies are clear at 6am this Wednesday morning and temperatures have fallen to the low teens in the Clifton area to some single digits in some areas of Northwest New Jersey, winds are a little brisk from the northwest making it feel even colder.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine along with breezy conditions, high temperatures will be in the upper 20s.

Most of Thursday will be dry with less wind and high temperatures a couple of degrees higher than today.

A weak low pressure area will move across the area Thursday night into Friday morning that could give us about an inch of snow.  Friday will start out a little milder during the day but temperatures will plummet Friday night along with strong winds.

It will be frigid during Saturday with slowly diminishing winds.

Now to the next storm that will likely affect the area Sunday night into Monday and of course the computer models are again not in agreement with the American model (GFS) indicating snow changing to rain while the European model shows a colder solution with all snow that would be significant.  Right now I am leaning toward the European model and that would mean that this area could have snowfall of six inches or more.

Clearing and frigid on Tuesday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Sunny and breezy, high in the upper 20s.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, low around 10.

THURSDAY – Increasing cloudiness, high in the low 30s, light snow likely by midnight.

FRIDAY – Light snow ending by 9am then becoming mostly sunny, windy,  early highs in the mid 30s, falling to 20 degrees by sunset.

SATURDAY – Sunny, high in the mid 20s.

SUNDAY – Partly sunny, high near 30, snow likely at night.

MONDAY – Snow likely, high in the low 30s.

TUESDAY – Mostly sunny, windy and very cold, high in the low 20s.

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect till 6pm today for northwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 5-8 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected during the day on Thursday with small craft advisories on Thursday night and possible gales on Friday, small craft advisories likely on Saturday.

Have a good day!

Big forecast bust for New Jersey, no blizzard with only moderate snowfall amounts!

At 6am we have light snow falling in the Clifton area, temperatures are in the upper teens, winds are from the north gusting to 20 mph, accumulation of snow is around 5 inches.

Well it appears that the American model (GFS) was more correct than the trusted European as the worst part of the storm will end up about 100 miles east of what was indicated by that European model and most forecasters, me included, maybe we should of used the “shower curtain” model.   However there was an intense storm but most of the real heavy snowfall is over Eastern Long Island and Eastern New England where accumulations will be over two feet.

Today we will have periods of mainly light snow with additional accumulations of around three inches, less to our west and more to our east.  The snow will taper off later this afternoon and end this evening, temperatures will be cold and winds will continue from the north gusting to 30 mph.

Wednesday will be dry with quite cold temperatures.

A weak storm system will likely give us some light snow Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning with an inch or two of accumulation, sunshine returns Friday afternoon

At this time the weekend looks dry and cold.

Another possible storm may affect the area on Monday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Snow with some blowing snow, windy with gusts to 30 mph, highs in the upper 20s, additional accumulation of around 3 inches.

TONIGHT – Light snow ending, low in the upper 20s.

WEDNESDAY – Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly sunny, high in the upper 20s.

THURSDAY – Increasing clouds with snow likely in the afternoon and evening, accumulations 1-2 inches, high in the low 30s.

FRIDAY – Chance of morning light snow then becoming mostly sunny, high in the low 30s.

SATURDAY – Mostly sunny and quite cold, high in the low 20s.

SUNDAY – Partly sunny, high in the upper 20s.

MONDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow, high near 30.

MARINE FORECAST:  Gale warnings are in effect for northwest winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 9-14.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisory likely on Wednesday with no advisories expected Wednesday night and Thursday, gales possible on Friday.

Have a good day!

Blizzard! Worst part of the storm tonight into tomorrow morning! Expect 18-24 inches!

Very light snow has begun in the area, temperatures have fallen to the teens, there is a dusting of accumulation, winds are out of the northeast around 10 mph.

During the day today we will generally have just light snow with 1-3 inches of accumulation expected.

By this evening the nor’easter will rapidly intensify and snow will become very heavy at times that will continue into Tuesday morning, winds will increase from the northeast to 40 mph which will cause blizzard conditions, there is even a chance of thunder and lightning, expect an average of 18-24 inches of snow by Tuesday noontime, less to the west of the Clifton area where “only” a foot will fall, some area under intense banding may have over two feet of snow.

The storm will gradually weaken Tuesday afternoon with snow tapering off in the afternoon and ending Tuesday evening.

Sunshine returns for Wednesday with cold temperatures

A much weaker storm is likely to affect the area Thursday afternoon into Friday morning with another 1-3 inches possible.

Dry and cold for the weekend.

Frigid most of next week so the snow will stay on the ground maybe till March.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Light snow, accumulations of 1-3 inches, high in the upper 20s.

TONIGHT – Snow, heavy at times with a chance of thunderstorms, very windy with blizzard conditions, accumulations 8-12 inches by daybreak.

TUESDAY – Snow, heavy at times with a chance of thunderstorms in the morning, very windy with blizzard conditions, snow tapering off in the afternoon and ending in the evening, additional accumulations of 8-12 inches expected.

WEDNESDAY – Mostly sunny, high near 30.

THURSDAY – Increasing cloudiness with snow likely in the afternoon and at night, high near 30.

FRIDAY – Chance of light snow in the morning then becoming partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

SATURDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 20s.

SUNDAY – Partly sunny, high in the upper 20.

MARINE FORECAST:  Storm warning in effect till 6pm on Tuesday for north winds gusting to 55 knots, seas 11-16 feet.

OUTLOOK – Gale warnings Tuesday night, small craft advisory on Wednesday, no advisories Wednesday night and Thursday with small craft advisories possible on Friday.

Everyone please stay safe and try to have a good day!

Good day today to get your milk and bread! Historic blizzard becoming more likely for Monday night into Tuesday!

At 6am we have partly cloudy skies in the area, temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the upper 20s further inland, winds are from the west 5-10 mph.

Today will be a rather nice day with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures near the 40 degree mark.

Clouds will increase tonight with light snow beginning after midnight, colder temperatures can be expected with a low around 20.

Mainly just light snow during the day on Monday with an inch or two accumulating by evening.

The fun begins Monday night as a coastal storm rapidly intensifies off our coast and slowly moves up the coast, expect snow very heavy at time Monday night through Tuesday evening and with winds gusting to 40 mph blizzard or near blizzard conditions can be expected.   At the present time the American model is indicating around 18 inches of snow for our area while the European model is showing an unbelieveable 36 inches, as of now I think 18-24 inches of windswept snow is likely.

Sunshine returns on Wednesday as we dig out with cold temperatures.

Slightly milder Thursday and Friday but we may have some light snow Thursday night.

At this time the weekend looks to be cold and dry.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Mostly sunny, high near 40.

TONIGHT – Becoming cloudy with light snow developing after midnight, low around 20.

MONDAY – Light snow, accumulations 1-2 inches by evening, high in the upper 20s.

MONDAY NIGHT – Snow, very heavy at times with near blizzard conditions, low around 20.

TUESDAY – Snow, very heavy at times with blizzard conditions possible, winds gusting to 40 mph, high in the upper 20s, snow tapering off in the evening, total accumulations 18-24 inches possible.

WEDNESDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 20s.

THURSDAY – Partly sunny, high in the low 30s, chance of snow at night.

FRIDAY – Partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

SATURDAY – Partly sunny, high in the upper 20s.

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect till 1pm for west winds gusting to 25 mph, seas 2-3 feet.

Storm watch in effect from Monday afternoon into Tuesday.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisory likely will be needed Tuesday night through Thursday.

Have a good day!

Snow this morning mixing with sleet and rain! Nice Sunday! More snow on Monday?

Early this morning we have snow mixed with a little sleet, at 6am 5.5 inches of snow has fallen in Clifton, temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the upper 20s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Snow mixed with rain and sleet will continue this morning with another 1-2 of accumulation, this afternoon we should only see some freezing drizzle mixed with light snow which will end by this evening.

Sunday will be a mostly sunny day with seasonable temperatures.

Another potentially stronger storm will be moving offshore on Monday, at this time most of the snow will be just to our south and east but this will be a close call and needs to be closely watched, areas to the south and east of the Clifton area has the highest chance of a quite significant snow, at this time we will only forecast a chance of light snow.  It will be colder so if we do receive any accumulation the snow will be more fluffy unlike the heavier wet snow that has fallen today.

Dry and very cold Tuesday and Wednesday.

Not as cold Thursday and Friday and we may see some light snow on Thursday night.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Snow mixed with sleet and rain tapering off later this morning, additional accumulations of 1-2 inches expected, high in the mid 30s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy, low in the upper 20s.

SUNDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

MONDAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the upper 20s.

TUESDAY – Partly sunny, high in the mid 20s.

WEDNESDAY – Sunny, high in the upper 20s.

THURSDAY – Partly sunny, high in the low 30s, chance of light snow at night.

FRIDAY – Partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect until 10 am on Sunday for northeast winds becoming northwest to 30 knots, seas 5-8 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories for Sunday afternoon and evening.  Advisories likely Monday through Wednesday with possible gales Monday and Monday night.

Have a good day!

Pleasant weather today with snow after midnight, winter mix on Saturday! Another storm on Monday!

The area has clear skies early this morning and temperatures range from the low 20s in the Clifton area to the teens further inland, winds are light.

Today will be a rather nice winter day with plenty of sunshine, light winds and high temperatures around the 40 degree mark.

Skies will become cloudy tonight with snow arriving shortly after midnight, the snow will continue Saturday morning and then mix with sleet and rain, total accumulations should be around 3-5 inches with the precipitation ending in the evening.

Sunshine will return on Sunday with near normal temperatures, with highs in the upper 30s.

Another storm will be moving up the coast on Monday, the computer models with this system are not in agreement yet with most guidance showing only a minor event while the American model indicates a more significant event.  The temperatures will be colder so any precipitation will fall as snow.  The timing of the event is pretty similar to Saturday’s storm with snow beginning before daybreak and ending by evening.

Much colder air will follow the storm for Tuesday and Wednesday with a slight moderation in temperatures on Thursday, dry conditions will prevail.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Sunny, high near 40.

TONIGHT – Becoming cloudy, with snow after midnight, low in the upper 20s.

I have now completed three years of doing this blog, i want to thank Doreen at PSE&G for the idea of the blog, my son Jared who set it all up and also a big thank you to my loyal followers.

Have a good day!

Dry with seasonable temperatures today and Friday! Significant snow still possible Saturday and again on Monday!

We have cloudy skies with a couple of flurries in the area, temperatures range from the upper 20s in the Clifton area to the low 20s further inland, winds are light.    We had no snow accumulation since yesterday in the Clifton area only a few flurries while Southern New Jersey picked up a couple of inches.

Today we will have cloudy skies with a couple of early flurries then it will become mostly sunny, temperatures will be rather pleasant for this time of year with highs near 40, winds will be light.

Friday will be another pleasant day with continued pleasant temperatures, sunny conditions and light winds.

On Saturday a storm system will be affecting our area, the computer models have come into better agreement, the European model which yesterday showed our area getting blasted with a foot of snow have backed off from that outcome.  At this time it appears that snow will begin before daybreak on Saturday, possibly mixing with sleet and rain and ending by evening, at this time 2-4 inches of snow is possible.

Sunday we will be between the two storms with the area enjoying mostly sunny skies and with seasonable temperatures.

With Monday’s storm the computer models are again not in agreement, this time the American model has the most snow with over 8 inches while the European model has much less, with this storm it will be colder so what falls will be in the form of snow with no mixing issues.

Clearing and colder weather for Tuesday and Wednesday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Cloudy with a couple of early flurries then becoming mostly sunny, high near 40.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, low in the low 20s.

FRIDAY – Sunny, high near 40.

SATURDAY – Snow likely beginning before daybreak, possibly mixing with sleet and rain, possible accumulations of 2-4 inches, high in the mid-upper 30s.   Snow ending by early evening.

SUNDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

MONDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow, high around 30.

TUESDAY – Partly sunny, high in the upper 20s.

WEDNESDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 20s.

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – West-northwest wind to 9 knots, seas 1 foot.

OUTLOOK – No advisories Friday and Sunday with advisories likely for the storms on Saturday and Monday.

Have a good day!
