Frigid today but with diminishing winds! Snow showers Friday morning! Dry weekend!


We have clear skies early this morning and the temperature in Clifton has fallen to 4 degrees which is the coldest here since last January 23rd, the coldest temperature in New Jersey early this morning is -3 degrees at High Point, the winds have diminished from last night so wind chills are not as harsh.

Today will be very cold but with lighter winds and mostly sunny skies.

A weak disturbance Friday morning will give us some snow showers, there may be a dusting of accumulation, low temperatures will be around 10 degrees higher than this morning.  Gradual clearing by Friday afternoon, it will be breezy but high temperatures will reach the low 30s.

Saturday will be dry and very cold as another surge of Arctic air moves into the area, temperatures however will not be as frigid as today.

Moderating temperatures on Sunday and we should stay dry.

Unsettled weather Monday through Wednesday as a few disturbances move into the area giving us a chance of snow or rain each day, high temperatures during this period should be in the 30s.

 

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Sunny and very cold with diminishing winds, high near 20.

TONIGHT – Becoming cloudy with a chance of snow showers after 3am, low in the mid teens.

FRIDAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow showers in the morning then becoming mostly sunny and breezy, high in the low 30s.

SATURDAY – Sunny and very cold, high in the low 20s.

SUNDAY – Mostly cloudy and not as cold, high in the mid 30s.

MONDAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the mid 30s.

TUESDAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the mid 30s.

WEDNESDAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow or rain, high in the upper 30s.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – Gale warning in effect till 10am for west-northwest winds gusting to 35 knots this morning diminishing to 15-20 knots this afternoon, seas 2-3 feet.

OUTLOOK – Gales possible on Friday with small craft advisories likely on Saturday, no advisories expected Saturday night and Sunday.
