Snow showers tonight followed by more frigid weather for Thursday and Friday!


With clear skies and light winds have caused a wide range of temperatures ranging from 11 degrees here in Clifton to many below zero readings in the colder valleys,  the coldest being Walpack, NJ where it is a chilly -12.

Today we will have a mostly sunny reading with temperatures rising to near 30 degrees.

Another Arctic front will cross the area tonight accompanied by some snow showers which may give us an inch or so of snow.

Frigid Arctic air will again cover our area Thursday and Friday with daytime highs struggling to reach 20 degrees and overnight lows near zero, winds will be gusty and wind chills will be as low as -25 degrees.

Slight moderation in temperatures on Saturday but a low pressure system approaching the area from the Ohio Valley will give us a chance of snow by Saturday afternoon, mixing with freezing rain at night.

On Sunday there will be a mix of snow and freezing rain changing to all rain for awhile Sunday afternoon before changing back to a mix of snow and freezing rain at night.   Total snow accumulations will range from about 2-4 inches.

Dry and cold weather to start the work week, while it won’t be a frigid as the cold snaps this week it still will be well below normal for late February.

Snow ending this morning; Arctic front may cause some snow showers Wednesday night followed by more frigid Arctic air for the end of the week!


Light snow is falling in the Clifton area early this morning with about 1 1/2 inch has accumulating, temperatures range from 12 in Clifton to some single digits in the colder northwest areas, winds are light.  Many roads are snow covered and a few accidents have been reported so be careful if you have to head out this morning.

The snow should end around 9 a.m. with a total of 3 inches can be expected, more accumulation to the south and less to our north, temperatures will remain below freezing

Increasing cloudiness on Wednesday with highs around 30.  An Arctic front will cross the area on Wednesday night possibly accompanied by snow showers that may give us another inch of snow.

More frigid Arctic air will be over us Thursday and Friday with highs only in the teens and lows near zero.

Not as cold on Saturday but another low pressure system will give us some precipitation in the form of snow late in the day mixing with freezing rain at night.

Mixed precipitation on Sunday and even though highs may reach the 40 degree mark any rain mixed with snow will freeze on the cold surfaces.

Well below normal temperatures will continue most of next week.

Frigid today but with less wind by the afternoon; Some snow on Tuesday; Another Arctic blast for Thursday and Friday!


Temperatures in Clifton has fallen to -1 degree which is the coldest temperature here since Jan 28, 2005 and the coldest February temperature since Feb 5, 1996, it is also a record low temperature for Feb. 16th.  Skies are clear and the wind is still gusting to 25 mph with wind chills down to -25 degrees.

Today will be a mostly sunny day with slowly diminishing winds as a strong low pressure over the Canadian Maritimes moves further northeast and high pressure builds from the midwest.  High temperatures will struggle to reach the 20 degree mark.

A low pressure system will move off the Delmarva coast on Tuesday, at this time it appears that the system will only give us light snow amounts of around 2 inches mainly falling from 3 a.m. till 9 a. m., more accumulation to our south and east.

Another Arctic front will cross the area on Wednesday with a low chance of snow showers with the front.

Arctic air will cover the area once again Wednesday night through Saturday morning, temperatures will again approach the zero degree mark overnight on Thursday and Friday with highs only in the teens, however winds will be less than what we experienced on Sunday.

Slightly less cold over the weekend but we may have some rain or snow or a mixture on Sunday.

Very windy and frigid today; Coldest night of the season tonight; Snow probable on Tuesday!


It is cloudy with a few flurries falling, temperatures have fallen to 10 degrees and with winds gusting to around 30 mph has caused the wind chills to drop well below zero.  We picked up only an inch of snow while areas across Central New Jersey picked up more than 6 inches.

Today will be a very windy day with some gusts up to 55 mph mainly this morning but only slowly diminishing through the afternoon into tonight, temperatures will not rise much if at all with highs only in the mid teens.

The coldest night of the season tonight with temperatures falling below zero in many places,  wind chill values down to -25 degrees.

Monday will be a sunny day with less wind and highs in the low 20s.

Snow is likely on Tuesday mainly falling from 3 a.m. till 3 p.m. possible accumulations of 2-5 inches, temperatures will still be very cold.

Still another chance of snow on Wednesday as another low pressure is expected to form off the Virginia coast.

Frigid again Thursday and Friday with temperatures as or even colder than Monday morning.

Guess we couldn’t bring warm air up from Grenada as temperatures should remain below freezing till maybe Sunday.

Snow later today with near blizzard conditions late tonight, followed by brutal cold and very strong winds!


Sitting on the balcony here in Granada it is mostly clear and 79 degrees just like it has been while being here the last nine days.

Back home in Clifton skies are mostly cloudy with a temperature of 7 degrees with  below zero readings in some of the colder suburbs, do I really have to come home tonight.

A clipper storm system will move across the area and then rapidly develop off shore, snow should begin after 5 p.m., temperatures will rise into the low 30s but as the storm moves off the coast colder air will move behind it and winds will increase mainly after midnight, near blizzard conditions overnight into Sunday morning with winds gusting to 50 mph, snow will end late Sunday morning but blowing snow and the strong winds will continue throughout the day. Temperatures will fall to the single digits by sunset with dangerous wind chills. Total snow accumulations of around 3-5 inches with the possibility of higher amounts if any snow bands are in the area.

Monday morning will be extremely frigid with some of the coldest readings in years with many areas below zero, winds will only slowly diminish with wind chill values of -25 degrees. Highs will recover to near 20 degrees by the afternoon.

Another disturbance will give us a chance of snow late Tuesday into Wednesday followed by more frigid air for the end of the week, brrrrr.

Frigid today, some snow Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning followed by brutally cold and with very high winds!


Early this morning we have clear skies with temperatures ranging from around 6 degrees in Clifton to near zero in the colder areas, winds are gusting from the northwest to 25 mph bringing wind chill values down to -15 degrees.

Today will be very cold with most highs only near 20, despite sunny skies, winds will slowly diminish.

Snow will develop Saturday afternoon possibly becoming heavy at times Saturday night as a rapidly developing low pressure forms offshore, this blizzard should just miss us but give blizzard conditions to Eastern New England. Expect 2-4 inches of snow for our area. Winds will increase to near 50 mph Saturday night into Sunday morning. A high wind watch in effect.

Sunday will be brutally cold and very windy, snow should end around 9 am but blowing snow will occur all day, temperatures will fall to near 10 degrees by sunset.

On Monday we will have early morning temperatures neat zero and highs only reaching the low 20s again despite sunny conditions, winds will diminish.

Yet another storm may give us more snow late Tuesday into Wednesday.

A clipper low pressure area will likely cause some snow Saturday afternoon and evening which may produce a couple inches of snow.

Monday will be a sunny and very cold day with diminishing winds.

Yet another low pressure area may cause more snow Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday which may mix with ice Tuesday night and Wednesday.

An Arctic cold front will cross the area tomorrow morning giving us a little snow, accumulations should be around an inch. Temperatures will fall from the 30s to the single digits by Friday morning as Arctic air comes rushing into our area.

Friday will be a very cold and windy day.

A clipper low pressure may give us another chance of mainly light snow Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning followed by even colder air Sunday with temperatures not rising out of the teens on Sunday and dropping to near zero by Monday morning along with strong winds will drop wind chill values to well below zero.

Another disturbance may give us a more significant snow event for Tuesday.

Cold to frigid weather to continue the next several days with some snow chances!


Skies are cloudy early this morning with temperatures in the mid 20s, winds are a bit breezy with some gusts to 20 mph.

Today will be a breezy day but temperatures should rise above freezing, still below normal for this time of year, after early clouds it will become mostly sunny.

Still mostly sunny on Wednesday with slightly colder temperatures.

Snow is expected on Thursday as a clipper low pressure system moves into the area, accumulations of up to three inches is possible.

Frigid conditions and windy weather is likely on Friday as Arctic air moves back into the area.

Very cold on Saturday but with less wind and another system may cause some more snow Saturday night into Sunday.

Arctic air again follows this system with windy conditions and the temperature may fall below zero in much of the area by Monday morning, great weather if you are a polar bear.

Freezing rain this morning with sleet and snow this afternoon and tonight!


Freezing rain is occurring this morning and temperatures have fallen to the low 20s, winds are northeast to 10 mph, please be very careful if you have to go out this morning since untreated roads and sidewalks will be extremely icy.

Freezing rain will continue this morning mixing with sleet and snow this afternoon and changing to all snow before ending late tonight, accumulations of ice and snow will be around two inches, temperatures will remain in the 20s.

Seasonably cold and dry Tuesday and Wednesday.

An Arctic cold front will cross the area on Thursday that may be accompanied by a quick inch or two of snow.

Frigid air then returns for Friday that will continue to at least to early next week, we should stay dry though the period except for an outside chance of light snow on the weekend as another clipper system moves through.
