Fantastic weather for the Labor Day weekend! Heat next week!


Skies are mostly clear early this Saturday morning and temperatures are a little lower than this time yesterday ranging from the mid 60s in Clifton to the upper 50s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

A high pressure ridge is over the northeast and will provide bright sunny skies, seasonably warm temperatures today along with low humidity.

More of the same on Sunday with continued plenty of sunshine, temperatures and the humidity will be a little higher than today.

A heat wave will begin on Labor Day and last till at least Wednesday, it will be gradually more humid also, but no rain should occur.

A cold front will be approaching the area on Thursday and slowly move through our area by Saturday, it won’t be as hot but will  continue to be humid and there  is a chance of showers Thursday into Saturday.

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect till 5 p.m. this afternoon for east-northeast winds with possible gusts to 25 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Sunday through Wednesday.

Not as warm today with some cloudiness! Great holiday weekend weather! Another heatwave next week and the dry pattern should continue!


Skies are mostly clear early this Friday morning and it is warm once again as temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton to the mid 60s further inland, winds are light and the humidity is moderate with dew points in the mid 60s.

A cold front is now moving south of our area and today will not be as warm as the last few days and an onshore flow will develop along with an increase in cloud cover, humidity levels will slowly decrease as the day goes on,  it will be breezy especially down in the shore areas.

Outstanding weather for the holiday weekend as high pressure takes control, Saturday will be seasonably warm with low humidity.  Temperatures and humidity will slowly rise Sunday and on Labor Day, no rain is expected.

Another heat wave next week possibly not ending till around Friday as a front comes through.  The dry pattern of the last few weeks will continue with only a chance of a shower with the front on Thursday.

Last day of this heat wave today! Great weather for the holiday weekend! Another heat wave likely next week!


Skies are mostly clear early this Thursday morning and temperatures are on the warm side once again with readings around 70 in Clifton to 60 in the inland suburbs, it is a little muggy with dew points in the 60s, winds are mostly calm.

Today will be last of this week’s heat wave as high pressure moves offshore permitting a cold front to drop down tonight, before the front we will have a southwest flow of hot and rather humid air.  This front may touch off a shower or two but that chance is low.

After the front we will have dry conditions tomorrow into Saturday with  high temperatures around 10 degrees lower than today.

Dry for the rest of the holiday weekend, warmer on Sunday and even warmer on Labor day.  Hot and dry weather  to continue Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hot and dry today and Thursday! Cooler Friday and Saturday! Heat builds back Sunday into early next week! No widespread rain is expected!


Skies are mainly clear early on this Wednesday morning although there is some patchy fog in some inland spots, temperatures range from the upper 60s in Clifton to around 60 inland, winds are light and it is a little muggy outside.

Today we will have a sunny day it will be hot once again with temperatures reaching the low 90s, dew points will be in the mid 60s so it will be a little uncomfortable.

Another sunny and hot day on Thursday but at night a backdoor cold front is expected to cross the area, with this front there may be some scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Cooler and dry Friday into Saturday as the air behind the front will be mainly onshore.

Temperatures rise again Sunday into early next week with our abnormally dry period continuing.

CLIMATE:  August 2015 was warm and dry, the average temperature was 76.3 degrees which was around three degrees warmer than normal and it was the warmest August since 2005.  Precipitation was only 1.54 ” which made this the driest August since 1996.  Only 4.09″ of rain has fallen in the last two months.  Every August day had high temperature of 80 degrees or higher, that is the first time in my records that this occurred in any month since I started records in 1973.  As of today we have had 59 straight 80 degree plus days also a record.

Heat wave as we begin September!


Skies are mostly clear early this Tuesday morning and temperatures are warm again with readings ranging from the low 70s in Clifton to the mid 60s further inland, kind of muggy too with dew points in the 60s.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine with highs once again in the low 90s, dew points will be in the upper 60s so it will be uncomfortable.

Hot weather to continue Wednesday and Thursday again with plenty of sunshine both days.

A back door cold front will come through the area Thursday night giving us the best chance of a shower into early Friday morning although the chance is low.

Not as warm Friday and Saturday but highs should still be above normal.

Warmer again Sunday and on Labor Day and the dry pattern will persist.
