A frigid morning across the area as temperatures have fallen to -2 degrees in Clifton which is the coldest temperatures since the -2 reading last February 20th.  The coldest right now in the state is -12 degrees at High Point, with the lowest reported temperature in the Northeast is the -36 degrees up in Watertown, NY.   Wind chills in our area range from -15 to -25 degrees. Sunday is usually one of the days I do my 4 mile walk and run but “NOT TODAY”

Today we will have plenty of sunshine with highs reaching 20 degrees by this afternoon but with less wind than yesterday it will feel not as harsh.  Clear early tonight and temperatures will fall to the single digits late tonight but with clouds moving in temperatures will rise a bit by sunrise.

A storm system is expected to develop over the southeast states on Monday and move just to our west on Tuesday, precipitation from the system will start off as snow Monday afternoon and accumulate around 2-4 inches before mixing with freezing rain late Monday night before changing to all rain Tuesday morning.  Although the air temperature will be above freezing by Tuesday morning the ground will still be very cold so Tuesday morning’s commute may be hazardous.  Much warmer air will then move into the region with highs reaching the low 50s in the afternoon, the rain may be heavy at times possibly causing urban and small stream flooding as 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches of rain is likely.

Some showers may linger into Wednesday with highs in the 40s.

Dry weather with seasonably cool temperatures Thursday and Friday.

Milder next weekend with a chance of rain.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and temperatures range from around 17 here in Clifton to 10 in the outlying areas, winds are light.

An Arctic cold front will be crossing the area this morning followed by a very strong northwest flow of very cold air, winds will pick up and gust to over 40 mph this afternoon, temperatures that are in the teens this morning will fall to the single digits by sunset, there is an outside chance of some snow showers but most areas will remain dry.  Tonight temperatures will continue to fall and with the winds will cause dangerous wind chill values of -25 to -30, air temperatures will fall to zero in the Clifton area to -10 further inland.

After a frigid Sunday morning winds will slowly diminsh throughout the day but high temperatures will only be in the teens despite plenty of sunshine.

A storm system will affect the area from Monday afternoon through Tuesday.  Snow from this system will start in the afternoon mixing with freezing rain and then to all rain by Tuesday morning as a warmer southeast flow develops.  We may pick up a couple inches of snow before the changeover.  The rain will be heavy at times Tuesday into Tuesday night with 1-2 inches of rainfall likely, temperatures will rise well up into the 40s to near 50 by the afternoon.

Still a chance of showers on Wednesday followed by dry conditions Thursday and Friday with near normal temperatures.

Skies are clear early this Friday morning and temperatures are very cold with a reading of 11 here in Clifton with some single digit readings across Sussex County, winds however have diminished and are nearly calm.

Today will be cold with highs staying in the 20s but the wind will be much lighter than on Thursday so it will feel a little more comfortable.

An Arctic cold front will be crossing the area early Saturday morning accompanied by some snow showers that may give us a dusting of snow.  Following the front Arctic air will plunge into our area on strong northwest winds gusting above 35 mph, temperatures in the teens in the morning will fall to the single digits by sunset on Saturday.  We should see the coldest readings of the season with most areas falling below zero and with the strong winds will cause wind chills to fall to -25 degrees, wind chill advisories and warnings are in effect.

Sunday will be dry and still very cold with highs in the teens, winds will slowly diminsh during the afternoon.

A storm system is expected to develop over the southeast states and move through our area on Tuesday.  Snow will likely develop at night and then mix with freezing rain later at night and then change to just plain rain before sunrise on Tuesday as warmer air moves in, temperatures will rise to well  up into the 40s by the afternoon, the rain may be heavy at times with 1 to 2 inches expected.

Skies are partly cloudy early this Thursday morning and temperatures are cold with readings ranging from the low 20s here in Clifton to the mid teens further inland, winds are gusty out of the west lowering the wind chills.  Some snow showers occurred overnight with some spots picking up a coating of snow.

Today we will see variable clouds and sun with some snow showers likely, again some places may pick up a quick coating.  It will be windy and temperatures will remain below freezing, in fact we should not see above freezing temperatures until at least early next week.

Tomorrow will be dry and cold but with less wind.

The coldest air of the season will be with us over the weekend as a Arctic cold front crosses the area on Friday night accompanied again by some snow showers and followed by Arctic air and rather strong winds, high temperatures will struggle to reach the 20 degree mark with the lows Saturday night approaching zero with wind chills of -25 degrees likely.

Early next week a storm system will be moving into the area. we will have a chance of snow by Monday afternoon with snow likely at night mixing with freezing rain Tuesday morning and then to all rain during the day as warmer air moves in.  Too early to say how much snow will accumulate before the change over.

We have some light flurries early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s here in Clifton to some upper 20s inland, winds are nearly calm.

The upper level low that was going to produce a few inches of snow overnight weakened and all most of the area had is just some light snow or flurries with little or no accumulation.  Today we will have cloudy skies with occasional snow or flurries with no further accumulation expected, temperatures will be seasonable with highs approaching 40 degrees.

Colder and windy tomorrow as a cold front moves through the area, there still may be some flurries around, high temperatures will be about 10 degrees colder than today.

Dry and cold on Friday.

An Arctic cold front will cross the area early Saturday morning followed by the coldest air of the season so far, daytime high on Saturday will be only around 20 degrees and overnight lows on Saturday night will possibly be below zero in many areas with wind chills of -25 degrees.   Very cold and dry during the day on Sunday with slowly diminishing winds.

Not as cold early next week and a more significant storm should give us precipitation starting as some snow Monday afternoon, mixing with freezing rain Monday night before changing to all rain on Tuesday as temperatures rise into the 40s.
