Chilly today with snow mixed with rain! Cool and dry on Sunday! Milder with rain likely Monday and Tuesday!


Skies are partly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures range from the freezing mark here in Clifton to the mid 20s further inland, winds are light.

An area of low pressure will move just to our south today and then off the coast, skies will become cloudy and a mix of snow and rain will develop later this morning and continue into the evening, snowfall accumulations in the Clifton area will be around 1/2 inch mainly on colder surfaces, however just to our south across Central New Jersey a band of heavier snow could cause accumulations of up to 4 inches especially over the higher terrain, winds will pick up from the northeast. Clearing late tonight but it will be breezy and cold.

Sunshine Sunday morning will be followed by an increase of clouds in the afternoon, it will be cool with highs mainly in the 40s.

A frontal system will affect our weather Monday and Tuesday with periods of rain that may begin as snow well inland.  Temperatures will become milder as a warm front moves through the area on Monday morning.  A cold front will swing through the area on Tuesday accompanied by more showers.

Dry weather is expected Wednesday into next weekend, temperatures during this period will be slightly below normal.

 

THE FORECAST:

TODAY –  Becoming cloudy with snow mixed with rain developing by noon, high in the low 40s, accumulations around 1/2″

TONIGHT – Chance of snow and rain before 8 p.m. then partial clearing and windy, low in the upper 20s.

SUNDAY – Sunny in the morning followed by increasing cloudiness, high in the upper 40s.

MONDAY – Cloudy with a chance of rain possibly mixed with snow at the start, milder with highs in the upper 50s.

TUESDAY – Cloudy with rain likely, high in the mid 50s.

WEDENSDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 50s.

THURSDAY – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 50s.

FRIDAY – Mostly sunny, high near 60.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  Gale warning will be in effect form noon today till 6 a.m. on Sunday for northeast winds becoming northwest tonight gusting to 45 knots, seas 5-8 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Sunday afternoon and evening with advisories again expected Sunday night into Tuesday morning, no advisories from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.
