Skies are mostly clear early on this Sunday morning and temperatures are unseasonably cool ranging from the upper 20s here in Clifton to the low 20s in some of the inland areas, there is a brisk northwest wind.    Yesterday we only had some mixed rain and snow in the afternoon with no accumulation however 1-3 inches fell across the southern parts of New Jersey.

We will have plenty of sunshine today as high pressure builds into the area but it will be cool with highs only in the upper 40s which is around 10 degrees below normal, brisk winds will diminish this afternoon.  Increasing cloudiness this evening.

On Monday a warm front will move north of the area giving us cloudy skies with milder temperatures and a chance of rain showers.

A cold front passing through the area on Tuesday will likely give us some rain.

A period of mainly dry weather with temperatures slightly below normal Wednesday through next weekend, however models are indicating a weak coastal low offshore that may give coastal areas more clouds and a slight chance of showers.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures range from the freezing mark here in Clifton to the mid 20s further inland, winds are light.

An area of low pressure will move just to our south today and then off the coast, skies will become cloudy and a mix of snow and rain will develop later this morning and continue into the evening, snowfall accumulations in the Clifton area will be around 1/2 inch mainly on colder surfaces, however just to our south across Central New Jersey a band of heavier snow could cause accumulations of up to 4 inches especially over the higher terrain, winds will pick up from the northeast. Clearing late tonight but it will be breezy and cold.

Sunshine Sunday morning will be followed by an increase of clouds in the afternoon, it will be cool with highs mainly in the 40s.

A frontal system will affect our weather Monday and Tuesday with periods of rain that may begin as snow well inland.  Temperatures will become milder as a warm front moves through the area on Monday morning.  A cold front will swing through the area on Tuesday accompanied by more showers.

Dry weather is expected Wednesday into next weekend, temperatures during this period will be slightly below normal.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the low 40s here in Clifton to the upper 30s inland, winds are from the west around 10-15 mph.

Today we will see a mix of sun and clouds, we will be mainly dry with only a slight chance of a sprinkle, highs will reach the low 50s which is about five degrees below normal for this time of year.

An Alberta clipper will be approaching the area from the northwest on Saturday and pass offshore just to our south, we should see snow develop in the morning with snow mixing with or changing to rain in the afternoon with precipitation ending Saturday night, accumulations should be less than an inch but higher amounts are possible at the higher elevations inland.

Sunshine returns for Sunday with chilly temperatures.

Another storm system will likely give us rain mainly falling from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning, temperatures will be milder than this weekend.

A period of dry weather with seasonably cool temperatures can be expected from Wednesday into next weekend.

Skies are cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are about 20 degrees warmer than this time yesterday ranging from the mid 40s here in Clifton to around 40 further inland, winds are light.

A complex low pressure system will be moving into the area today with rain developing this morning with the heaviest rain and a chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, winds will  pick up and become gusty from the south, temperatures will rise to near 60.

Drier air will move into the area on Friday but there is still a chance of a few showers.

Colder over the weekend and now it looks like a low pressure will develop close enough to give us snow, yes snow on Saturday, at the present time accumulations appear to be light mainly in the range of 1-3 inches, the latest GFS model even has snowfall of up to 10 inches over inland areas which is possible but not likely.

The storm will intensify offshore and cause strong winds with cold temperatures on Sunday despite plenty of sunshine.

Another frontal system will likely give us more showers early next week with milder temperatures.

Skies are mostly clear on this Wednesday morning and with calm winds temperatures have fallen to the low 20s here in Clifton to the mid-upper teens inland.   On this date in 1982 we had an April blizzard that dropped a foot of snow and a nighttime reading of 18 degrees.

High pressure over the area this morning will move offshore and a southerly flow will develop, temperatures still will be chilly with highs in the upper 40s.

A frontal system approaching from the west will cause skies to cloud up this evening, overnight temperatures will remain in the 40s, rain will develop by daybreak tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow will be milder but with periods of rain that may be moderate to heavy at times especially in the afternoon, expect about an inch of rainfall.

Today we will have a mostly sunny day but it will be unseasonably cold with highs mostly only in the 30s, winds will make it feel much colder, the winds will slowly diminish this afternoon.

Tomorrow morning will start off very chilly once again with temperatures falling to the low 20s in Clifton and down to the low teens further inland.  The cold Arctic high will then move off the coast Wednesday afternoon bringing a southerly flow, highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 40s.  Expect an increase in clouds by late in the day with rain developing late at night, temperatures at night will remain in the 40s.

A frontal system will move into the area on Thursday giving us rain with milder temperatures.  Showers may persist into Friday as another cold front crosses the area.

A low pressure system will be moving across the area today, precipitation should start as snow this morning and change to rain in all areas, no accumulation is expected in the Clifton area but inland an 1-2 inches are possible.  The rain may change back to snow before ending tonight as cold air moves in, a coating of snow is possible.

Rather chilly but dry Tuesday and Wednesday with early morning lows in the 20s, a freeze warning is in effect for areas that the growing season has started.

Another low pressure system will cause rain on Thursday with showers possibly persisting into Friday, milder on Thursday but cool again on Friday.

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning,  a mix of snow and rain has just ended, temperatures have fallen to the low 30s here in Clifton to around 30 further inland, winds are gusting to around 35 mph.  Report of around 3 inches of snow have fallen in parts of Northwest New Jersey.   Just after midnight we had an intense line of thunderstorms producing hail that whitened the ground.

Today we will have clearing, winds will pick up and gust to over 50 mph this morning slowly diminishing this afternoon, it will be cold despite some afternoon sunshine with highs mainly reaching only around 40 degrees.  An intense low pressure system is around Cape Cod and will move further offshore as high pressure builds into the area.

Another low pressure will give us precipitation on Monday which may begin as snow Monday morning and then change to rain as warmer air moves into the area, however colder air will again move into the area at night and the rain may change back to snow before ending Monday night.

Tuesday will be fair and breezy with chilly temperatures.

Fair weather will continue on Wednesday with slight moderation of temperatures as high pressure builds into the area.

Still another low pressure system will give us mainly rain and warmer temperatures on Thursday.  Colder again on Friday with a chance of more precipitation.  Clearing and cold on Saturday.

Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and some spots are having light rain, temperatures continue to be mild with readings ranging from the low 50s here in Clifton to the mid 40s further inland, winds are light.

This morning will be cloudy with some light rain that should end by noontime, some breaks in the clouds this afternoon with highs rising only a couple of degrees from the morning lows.

Low pressure along a strong cold front will cross the area today with rain showers changing to snow showers on Sunday morning, accumulations may be up to 2 inches well inland but even a coating in our area.  This system will be followed by a extremely strong northwest wind on Sunday morning with gusts up to 60 mph in fact the GFS model has some gusts reaching near hurricane force, a high wind warning is in effect from midnight tonight till noon on Sunday.  These winds will slowly diminish in the afternoon but it will be cold with highs only in the 40s and with the wind it will feel even colder.

Another disturbance on Monday will give us some  precipitation with snow in the early morning changing to rain in the afternoon as temperatures rise to the 50s.

Cold and windy once again on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies.  Wednesday will be cool and sunny with less wind.

More rain is likely at the end of the week with somewhat milder temperatures.

MARCH 2016  CLIMATE –  March was the second warmest March since I started records 43 years ago, temperatures averaged around 7 degrees above normal, the warmest March was in  2012. Precipitation totaled 1.70″ which was 37% of normal.  Snow was also below normal with a total of 2.2″ falling.  Highest temperature was 80 degrees on the 9th with the lowest reading of 22 recorded on the 3rd.
