MONDAY MARCH 6, 2017  5:50 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and the temperatures are not quite as frigid as yesterday morning as readings range from the low 20s in the Clifton area to around 10 in some of the colder inland valleys, winds are mainly calm.

The Arctic high pressure that gave our area the frigid temperatures over the weekend is now moving offshore and a light return flow will bring milder air into the region today along with increasing cloudiness, high temperatures will be 5-10 degrees higher than what was recorded yesterday along with light winds.

A frontal system approaching from the west will give us a chance of rain showers mostly falling Tuesday afternoon and night, temperatures will rise to well above normal.

Clearing on Wednesday with continued mild temperatures.

Colder air will move in for the end of the week along with a chance of light snow or rain on Friday.

A stronger low pressure system is expected to move into the area over the weekend which may give us a significant snowfall, the best chance of snow at this time would be from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning but since it is a few days away details on this potential storm will probably change.

TODAY – MAR 6 – Mostly sunny this morning then increasing cloudiness, high in the mid 40s.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with a chance of rain after midnight, low in the upper 30s.

TUESDAY – MAR 7 – Cloudy and milder with a chance of rain, high in the upper 50s, rain likely at night.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 8 – Chance of rain before 10 a.m. then becoming mostly sunny and mild, high in the low 60s.

THURSDAY – MAR 9 – Mostly sunny, high near 50.

FRIDAY – MAR 10 – Cloudy with a chance of rain or snow,  high in the upper 40s.

SATURDAY – MAR 11 – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high near 40.

SUNDAY – MAR 12 – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the upper 30s.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – Southerly winds to 8 knots, seas 1 foot.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisory posted from 1 p.m. Tuesday till 6 a.m Wednesday morning; advisories likely to continue Wednesday afternoon into the day on Thursday; possible advisories again on Friday.
