Good morning everyone!

Skies are mainly clear early this morning and temperatures are on the cool side ranging from the low 60s in the Clifton area down to some upper 40s further inland, winds are light and the humidity is low.

High pressure will give our area more nice summer weather today and on Friday with plenty of sunshine both days along with seasonably warm temperatures and low humidity as dew points will be in the comfortable upper 40s to the mid 50s.

As the high moves offshore a low pressure disturbance is expected to move up the coast which will give us rain from late Saturday afternoon into Sunday, some of the rain will be heavy at times.  It will become more humid.

A blocking pattern with a strong high pressure over the Atlantic and low pressure trough to our west will give us a southerly flow of humid air Monday through at least Wednesday causing mostly cloudy skies each day with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Very pleasant summer weather today through Friday! Good chance of showers late Saturday into next week!

Good morning everyone!

Skies have become mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from the mid 60s in the Clifton area down to the upper 50s further inland, wind are light and the humidity is dropping.

Yesterday we received 1.02 inches of rain.  Yesterday I said that heaviest rain would be between 4-6 p.m. so when the storms came early at around 2:30 p.m. Joan was upset with my forecast since she got drenched going to her car after food shopping.   I said “just shoot me” !

In my 45 years of record keeping July 18th has the most 90 degree plus temperatures but today it should fall short of that mark as high pressure builds into the area bringing in cooler weather and much less humid air as dew points will drop to the comfortable 50s.  It will still be seasonably warm with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.

Very pleasant summer weather will continue tomorrow and Friday with plenty of sunshine each day, comfortably warm temperatures and continued low humidity as high pressure will be over the area.

As the high moves offshore and low pressure to our west will cause a southerly flow of more humid air on Saturday with a chance of showers at night.

Humid weather with showers and thunderstorms Sunday through much of next week as a blocking pattern develops with high pressure to our east and a front that will be nearly stationary over our area.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – JUL 18 – Sunny and much less humid, high in the mid to upper 80s.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, low around 60.

THURSDAY – JUL 19 – Sunny, high in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY – JUL 20 – Sunny, high in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – JUL 21 – Mostly sunny, high near 80.  Chance of showers at night.

SUNDAY – JUL 22 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, more humid, high in the low 80s.,

MONDAY – JUL 23 – Mostly cloudy and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

TUESDAY – JUL 24 – Mostly cloudy and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – Northerly winds to 11 knots, seas 2 feet.  Belmar’s ocean temperature is 73 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Thursday through the day on Saturday;  small craft advisories possible Saturday night; small craft advisories likely on Sunday.

Enjoy this pleasant summer weather today!
