Periods of rain today and not as chilly! Warm and humid tomorrow through most of the rest of this week with a chance of thunderstorms!

Good morning everyone!

Rain is falling over most of the area early on this Monday morning and temperatures are quite cool with readings ranging from the low 50s in Clifton to the upper 40s further inland, winds are from the north-northeast averaging around 10 mph.

A warm front to our south will slowly approach our area today with periods of rain continuing, temperatures will not be as chilly with highs near 70.

The warm front will pass to our north tomorrow morning and temperatures tonight will remain steady and even rise a bit overnight.  Tomorrow will be warmer and more humid and with a cold front approaching from the west will likely cause showers and thunderstorms.

Warm and humid weather will continue Wednesday and Thursday along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms both days.

Hurricane Florence is expected to hit the Carolina coast on Thursday but then stall in that area and will cause extensive heavy rain across North Carolina into Virginia.     At this time it does not appear that we will experience any direct impact with the storm except for high surf and dangerous rip tides along with a chance of some coastal flooding.

Good morning everyone!

Skies are cloudy and light rain is falling over most of the area, temperatures are quite cool with readings ranging from the upper 50s in Clifton down to some upper 40s well inland, winds are from the north 10-15 mph.   The 56 temperature in Clifton is the lowest reading since June 12th.

The front to our south and high pressure off the New England coast will give us a cloudy and chilly day today with periods of rain, temperatures will not rise much with highs only in the 60s.

More rain tonight into Monday and may be heavy at times as a warm front approaches from the south and the remnants of Gordon moves into the area, 1-2 inches of rain is likely.  Temperatures will not be as cool and even rise Monday night as the warm front pushes through the area.

Warm and humid weather returns for Tuesday and last the rest of the week along with chances of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tropical cyclone Florence is expected to become a major hurricane as it approaches the Carolinas.  At the present time it is unclear how it will affect our area but the models have the storm stall along the Carolina coast and either then move out to sea or dissipate inland over Virginia, in either case it will affect our coastal areas with high surf and dangerous riptides.
