Heavy flooding rains and near record warmth! Winter begins at 5:23 PM this afternoon!

Moderate to heavy rain is falling across the area early on this Friday morning and temperatures have risen to the upper 50s in Clifton down to the low 50s further inland, winds are gusty out of the southeast.

A strong low pressure will move up the from the south moving to our west this morning. Moderate to heavy rain this morning will taper off to showers this afternoon, rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches are expected with some higher amounts possible. There is even a chance of a rare December thunderstorm. Winds will be gusty out of the southeast. Record high temperatures are also possible as temperatures rise to above 60 degrees. A flood watch is in effect.

Some lingering showers are possible Saturday morning followed by cooler and windy conditions.

Mainly dry Sunday through Wednesday with only a low chance of some flurries Sunday night, temperatures during the period will be near normal.

Another rainstorm is possible late Thursday into Friday along with milder temperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – DEC 21 – Rain heavy at times with a chance of a thunderstorm, rain tapering off to showers this afternoon, quite mild and windy with highs in the low 60s. Rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches likely with higher amounts possible.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 4 p.m. this afternoon for south-southeast winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 7-12 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions expected tonight through Saturday night with some gale gusts possible; no advisories expected Sunday through Monday morning; possible small craft advisories Monday afternoon and night; no advisories expected on Christmas.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from the upper 20s in Clifton down to the upper teens further inland, winds are mainly calm.

After a sunny start we should see some increase in cloudiness as a strong low pressure approaches from the south. Rain from this system should begin after 3 p.m. and become heavy at times after midnight, temperatures will rise through the 40s.

Heavy rain is expected on Friday along with near record high temperatures as readings will rise into the upper 60s. A flood watch is effect with 2-3 inches of rain expected with higher amounts possible. The heaviest rain will occur between midnight and 8 p.m.

Some lingering showers on Saturday, temperatures will start off mild but slowly decrease in the afternoon, it will become windy.

As of this time Sunday through Christmas should be dry but there is a slight possibility of some snow flurries Sunday night. Temperatures will be near normal.

No bitter cold or widespread snow is expected through the end of the year.

Sunshine and milder today with much less wind! Heavy rain expected late Thursday into Friday!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are chilly ranging from the low 20s in Clifton down to 14 degrees in Walpack, winds are light.

High pressure will be moving off the coast today and we should see milder temperatures today and with much less wind than the last couple of days, skies will be mostly sunny!

Low pressure will be developing along the gulf coast on Thursday and move to our west on Friday, rain from this system will begin around the evening rush and continue heavy at times through Friday morning.  A warm front will cross the area on Friday bringing in much milder air, temperatures will climb close to 60.  The rain will taper off to showers Friday afternoon before ending at night.  Rainfall amounts will average around 2 inches which could cause some flooding.  There is even a chance of a rare December thunderstorm.

Mainly dry weather over the weekend into the Christmas holiday.  Temperatures will be above normal on Saturday but be near normal Sunday through Christmas Day.

Windy and colder today despite more sunshine! Heavy rain again late Thursday into Friday!

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton to the mid 20s further inland, winds are gusty out of the northwest.

Today will be a mostly sunny day but it will be colder than yesterday with highs mostly in the 30s and with a brisk wind it will feel like the 20s.  A strong low pressure off the Canadian Maritime region as high pressure builds toward the area from the midwest.

Tonight will be chilly with diminishing winds,  but as the high pressure builds into our area Wednesday looks to be a bit milder with much less wind.

A storm system is expected to develop and move just to our west on Friday. This will bring moisture and milder air into the region.  Rain is expected from late Thursday into Friday, temperatures will rise to the upper 50s.  Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are likely.

The weekend looks to be dry with seasonably cool temperatures, Saturday will be windy as the low pressure moves into Canada, much less wind expected on Sunday.

Mainly dry weather with seasonably cool temperatures is likely to continue on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Skies are mainly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the upper 30s in Clifton down to the low 30s further inland, winds are light from the northwest.

The storm that gave us the rain yesterday is moving off the coast while weak high pressure builds into the area.  We will see some sunshine but it will still be mostly cloudy and breezy with temperatures a little above normal.

A cold front will cross the area early tomorrow morning, we should see more sunshine but it will be breezy and colder.

After a chilly Wednesday morning temperatures during the day will not be as cold as Tuesday.

Mild and dry most of Thursday but rain from a rather strong low pressure system will move into the area Thursday night and continue heavy at times into Friday.

At this point the weekend looks to be dry with temperatures slightly above normal.
