Rain, windy and cooler today! Sunshine finally returns tomorrow!


Good morning!

Rain is falling over the area early on this Sunday morning and temperatures range from the upper 30s in Clifton to the low 30s further inland where there may be some freezing rain.  Winds are gusty out of the northeast.

Low pressure to our south will move into our area today and then offshore tonight, rain from this system will continue throughout the day into this evening possibly mixing with sleet before ending.  More frozen precipitation is expected over the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey as well as the Poconos and the Hudson Valley where a winter weather advisory is in effect.

Improving weather on Monday ahead of a cold front, we should see some sunshine along with seasonably mild temperatures.

Colder but dry weather can be expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

Another low pressure system is expected to give us precipitation late Thursday through Friday but warmer air moving in will cause this precipitation to fall as rain.

TODAY – DEC 16 – Rain and breezy, high in the upper 30s.

TONIGHT – Rain mixed with sleet likely before ending this evening, low in the low 30s.

MONDAY – DEC 17 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

TUESDAY – DEC 18 – Sunny, high in the upper 30s.

WEDNESDAY -DEC 19 – Sunny, high in the low 40s.

THURSDAY – DEC 20 – Increasing clouds, high in the upper 40s, rain likely at night.

FRIDAY – DEC 21 – Mostly cloudy with rain mainly in the morning, high in the mid 50s.

SATURDAY – DEC 22 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

MARINE FORECAST:  A gale warning is in effect until 6 p.m. this evening for northeast winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 9-14 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories expected Monday through the day on Tuesday with some gale gusts possible; no advisories expected Tuesday night through the day on Thursday; possible small craft conditions again Thursday night.

Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and it is quite mild with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s in Clifton down to the upper 30s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

Most of the rain that fell overnight has moved to our south and although may have a chance of a shower this morning most of today will be dry and mild with highs near 50.

A low pressure area will move into the area tonight with rain redeveloping tonight and continuing through Sunday night, temperatures will become cooler with most highs in the upper 30s.  With the cooler air the rain may mix with sleet before ending Sunday night.

Monday should be a dry and rather mild day ahead of a cold front.

Colder and dry weather is expected Tuesday through Thursday.

Another low pressure system is expected to give us more rain and milder temperatures on Friday.

Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and there is some drizzle falling in parts of the area, temperatures range from the upper 30s in Clifton to around 30 further inland where some freezing drizzle may be occuring, winds are light.

Today will be a cloudy but milder day with occasional drizzle as high pressure moves off the coast.   Rain from a low pressure will fall from tonight into Saturday morning.

There may be a break in the precipitation Saturday afternoon and evening but more rain and cooler temperatures is expected on Sunday.  Some snow showers may mix in with the rain before it ends very early Monday morning.

Dry weather is expected from during the day on Monday through Thursday, temperatures will be seasonably cold.

Light snow this morning changing to light rain this afternoon! Milder with rain late Friday into the weekend!

Skies are cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton down to the low 20s further inland, winds are light.

The disturbance that was only expected to give us flurries today is a little stronger so we can see a period of light snow to develop after 8 a.m. before changing to light rain this afternoon, a dusting to around an inch of snow is possible before the changeover.   Some light drizzle may persist into this evening.

A stronger disturbance will give us rain mainly from Friday night into Saturday morning,  the rain may become moderate to heavy at times.  It will be milder with temperatures rising to the upper 40s.

Lingering light rain may continued Saturday night into Sunday as the storm moves offshore.

Dry weather is expected Monday through Wednesday along with cooler temperatures as high pressure builds into the area.

Skies have become mostly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are not as cold as the last couple of mornings with readings ranging from the low 30s in Clifton down to the mid 20s further inland, winds are light.

A weak high pressure will give us a partly to mostly sunny day, temperatures will be cool with highs near 40 and the winds will be light.

A weak disturbance will give us a slight chance of snow showers on Thursday, as of now no accumulation is expected in our area but a dusting is possible further inland.

A stronger low pressure will affect our area from late Friday into Saturday, it will become milder and any precipitation will be in the form of rain.

Most indications as of now that Sunday will be dry and cooler but the GFS model has precipitation lingering during the day.

High pressure will build into the region early next week, it will be dry with slightly below normal temperatures.
