Frigid today and on Friday! Dry over the weekend with moderating temperatures! Quite mild most of next week!

Good morning!

Skies are clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures have fallen to 1 degree below zero in Clifton, ranging down to -15 at Walpack. Winds are gusty out of the west bringing wind chill values down to -20. The -1 reading in Clifton is the coldest temperatures since Valentine’s Day in 2016. Watch for black ice on untreated roads if heading out this morning.

Arctic high pressure will be moving in from the midwest which will give us frigid weather today. Highs will be only in the teens and with winds gusting to 25 mph will keep wind chills below zero much of today despite plenty of sunshine. A wind chill advisory is in effect.

After a very cold morning on Friday temperatures will moderate a little but with much less wind it will feel more comfortable than today.

Dry weather is expected for the weekend, high temperatures in the 30s on Saturday will rise to the 40s on Sunday as the Arctic high pressure moves offshore and a milder southwest flow develops.

Mild weather most of next week and it should remain dry Monday and during the day on Tuesday. A frontal system will give our area a chance of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday.
