Dry and a little milder today! Colder on Thursday! Light snow Thursday night! Significant winter storm over the weekend!

Good morning!

Skies are clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the mid 20s in Clifton down to the lower teens further inland, winds are mainly calm.

Today will be a partly sunny day with slightly milder temperatures as most highs will be around 40.

A cold front will come through dry tonight followed by colder weather for Thursday.

A weak disturbance is expected to give us light snow late Thursday night into Friday morning, accumulations should be between 1-2 inches, the snow may change to rain before ending Friday morning.

A more significant winter storm for the weekend as a low pressure system develops and moves up the coast. Snow should begin by late Saturday afternoon and as temperatures rise to above freezing the snow will then change to rain. Arctic air behind this system will likely change the rain back to snow before ending Sunday night. I am quite concerned about a flash freeze as temperatures fall to the single digits by Monday morning.

The coldest air of the season is likely Monday and Tuesday along with dry conditions.

Dry today through the day on Thursday! Light snow likely Thursday night into Friday! Significant winter storm over the weekend!

Good morning!

Skies are clear early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from around 20 in Clifton down to 9 degrees at Walpack, winds are light or calm.

Today we will have partly sunny skies with temperatures a little milder than the last couple of days as high pressure builds in from the southwest, winds will be light.

Dry weather will continue on Wednesday and although temperatures will be milder a brisk wind will make it feel colder. A cold front will come through dry late in the day.

Thursday will be dry but colder as high pressure builds in from the northwest. A weak disturbance will likely give us some light snow Thursday night into Friday morning that should change to rain before ending. Accumulations of 1-3 inches are possible.

A much stronger system will affect our area over the weekend, at this time precipitation should start off as snow late Saturday and possible mix or change to rain and then as Arctic air moves into the area on Sunday will cause the precipitation to change back to snow before ending at night. It will become much colder Sunday afternoon into Monday and there is some indications that a flash freeze may affect Monday morning’s commute. Of course this forecast may change depending on the track and strength of this significant winter storm.
