Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and there are some showers and thunderstorms in parts of the area, temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton down to the mid 60s further inland. It is muggy with dew points around 70.

A rather active day today as a trough of low pressure will be approaching our area, showers and thunderstorms may occur at any point today but be most likely this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms may be severe with strong gusty winds, hail and torrential downpours. It will be quite warm and humid.

A couple of cold fronts will cross the area on Thursday giving us a chance of showers but the activity will be less widespread than today.

Very pleasant August weather Friday through early next week with plenty of sunshine each day, warm temperatures and much less humidity.

TODAY – AUG 7 – Mostly cloudy and humid with showers and thunderstorms, some storms may be accompanied by torrential downpours, hail and strong gusty winds, high in the upper 80s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy and humid with showers and thunderstorms likely, some storms in the evening may be accompanied by torrential downpours, hail and strong gusty winds, low in the upper 60s.

THURSDAY – AUG 8 – Partly sunny with a chance of mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms, high in the upper 80s.

FRIDAY – AUG 9 – Sunny and much less humid, high in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – AUG 10 – Sunny, high in the low 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 11 – Sunny, high in the mid 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 12 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 80s.

TUESDAY – AUG 13 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – A small craft advisory has been posted effective from 2 p.m. this afternoon until midnight tonight for southerly winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet. Point Pleasant Beach ocean temperature is 74 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Thursday through Saturday.
