Hot and humid today with some strong to severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening! Hot again on Thursday with possible showers! Much cooler and drier air Friday into the weekend!

Skies across the area are partly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and it is quite muggy with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s in Clifton down to the mid 60s further inland, winds are mainly calm and the humidity is high with dew points mainly in the low 70s.

A warm front is moving to our north this morning and today will be a hot day with high humidity. There is a chance of showers this morning but most of the stronger thunderstorms will be later this afternoon and evening. Some storms may become severe with strong gusty winds and hail along with torrential rain.

Thursday will be another hot day but maybe a tad less humid, there will be a chance of showers but most of the storms will be occurring Thursday night as a cold front crosses our area.

Dry weather with much lower temperatures and humidity Friday through the weekend.

Mainly dry weather with seasonably cool temperatures early next week.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely in the evening, some storms may be accompanied by damaging winds, hail and heavy rain, humid, low in the low 70s.

THURSDAY – AUG 22 – Mostly sunny, chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, humid, high in the low 90s.

FRIDAY – AUG 23 – Mostly sunny, cooler and much less humid, high near 80.

SATURDAY – AUG 24 – Sunny, high near 80.

SUNDAY – AUG 25 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 70s.

MONDAY – AUG 26 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 70s.

TUESDAY – AUG 27 – Partly sunny, high near 80.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – A small craft advisory has been posted effective from 2 p.m. this afternoon until 2 a.m. Thursday morning for southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet. Point Pleasant Beach ocean temperature is 71 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Thursday through Sunday.
