Today will be a cloudy day and it will become more humid as a weak front approaches our area. There is a chance of showers mainly this afternoon and evening.

Dry and warm conditions Thursday and Friday as high pressure build into the area, highs will be in the 80s but with lower humidity.

At the present time the Labor Day weekend looks to be mainly dry except for a low chance of showers Monday night. High temperatures will be slightly below normal with comfortable humidity.

THE TROPICS:

Newly named Tropical Storm Erin is off the North Carolina coast with top winds to 40 mph, Erin is expected to remain well off our coast but may cause some heavy rain across eastern Long Island.

Meanwhile Tropical Storm Dorian has intensified overnight with top winds to 60 mph as it approaches Puerto Rico today. Dorian may become a major hurricane as it moves into the Bahamas and approaches Florida.

TODAY – AUG 28 – Cloudy and humid with a chance of showers, high near 80.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers before midnight then becoming partly cloudy, low in the mid 60s.

THURSDAY – AUG 29 – Sunny and less humid, high in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY – AUG 30 – Sunny, high in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – AUG 31 – Sunny, high near 80.

SUNDAY – SEP 1 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 70s.

LABOR DAY – SEP 2 – Mostly cloudy, high near 80, chance of showers at night.

TUESDAY – SEP 3 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – East-northeast wind to 9 knots, seas 2 feet. Point Pleasant Beach ocean temperature is 67 degrees.
