Winter storm warnings continue for today and tonight! Rain will mix and change to snow by noontime and continue tonight! Dry and seasonably cold weather Tuesday through the weekend!

Light rain is falling across our area early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the mid 30s in Clifton down to the upper 20s further inland with some icing.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR DECEMBER 2ND:

AVERAGE HIGH: 48 AVERAGE LOW: 31

RECORD HIGH: 63 – 1998 RECORD LOW: 10 – 1989

The coastal low is just off the New Jersey coast and is expected to only move slowly offshore, rain from this system will fall early this morning and then mix with snow later this morning and to all snow this afternoon and tonight. Snowfall amounts are extremely uncertain as it depends where the bands of very heavy snow occur. At this time I will predict 4-7 inches of snow in our area. Travel for the evening commute may become very difficult where the heaviest snow falls.

Mainly dry weather Tuesday through the weekend with temperatures mainly below normal.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – DEC 2 – Rain and snow this morning changing to all snow this afternoon, highs in the upper 30s falling to the low 30s by late in the day.

TONIGHT – Snow this evening, low in the low 30s, snowfall amounts of 4-7 inches possible.

TUESDAY – DEC 3 – Partly sunny, high near 40.

WEDNESDAY – DEC 4 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

THURSDAY – DEC 5 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

FRIDAY – DEC 6 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

SATURDAY – DEC 7 – Sunny, high in the upper 30s.

SUNDAY – DEC 8 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday evening form northwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Tuesday night through the day on Wednesday; small craft advisories possible Wednesday night through Friday.

CLIFTON’S SUMMARY FOR NOVEMBER 2019:

The average temperature was 41.1 degrees which was 3.0 degrees below normal. Highest temperature – 70 – 1st. Lowest temperature – 20 – 13th Precipitation was below normal with 2.59 inches falling. There was no snow accumulation.
