Skies across the area are partly cloudy and temperatures range from the mid 30s in Clifton down to the low 20s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A low pressure system will be moving into our area today and rain should develop by late this afternoon and continue through Monday before tapering off to drizzle or light rain Monday night and then end Tuesday morning. Some of the higher elevations of Sussex County may have a period of freezing rain tonight and a winter weather advisory has been issued for that area. Rainfall amounts in our area will be around 1 1/2 inches.

Clearing later on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will be dry with seasonably mild temperatures.

Dry and mild during the day on Thursday but another low pressure system will give us a chance of rain Thursday night through Friday.

TODAY – DEC 29 – Becoming cloudy with light rain mainly after 3 p.m., high in the mid 40s.

TONIGHT – Rain, low in the upper 30s.

MONDAY – DEC 30 – Cloudy with rain, high in the mid 40s.

TUESDAY – DEC 31 – Chance of light rain or drizzle in the morning followed by partial clearing in the afternoon, high near 50.

NEW YEAR’S DAY – JAN 1 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

THURSDAY – JAN 2 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s, chance of rain at night.

FRIDAY – JAN 3 – Cloudy with a chance of rain, high near 50.

SATURDAY – JAN 4 – Partly sunny, high near 50.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch has been posted effective between 6 a.m and midnight on Monday; advisories expected Tuesday and Wednesday; no advisories expected for Thursday.
