Quite warm with showers and thunderstorms likely late this afternoon and tonight! Sunny and pleasantly mild on Saturday! Cooler on Sunday with a chance of light rain!


Good morning!

Skies are mainly cloudy early on this Friday morning and it is quite mild with readings in the mid to upper 50s. Some light rain or sprinkles are falling in parts of the area. Winds are light from the southwest.

A warm front is moving through the area this morning with some light rain in parts of the area. A southwest flow of warm and even somewhat humid air will be with us today with readings reaching the 80s. A cold front will approach the area this afternoon and pass through tonight. Some strong to possibly severe thunderstorms are likely later this afternoon and tonight.

After a chance of a shower early Saturday it will become mostly sunny and pleasantly warm with lower humidity.

Sunday will be cooler as high pressure builds over New England and we will have an onshore flow. There is a chance of showers but most of the day will be dry.

Unsettled weather much of next week as an upper level low moves slowly through the area giving area a chance of showers. High temperatures will be below normal but low temperatures will be near normal.

A subtropical storm is expected to develop over the Bahamas this weekend and moves slowly off the North Carolina coast and then move further offshore and should not affect our weather.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a showers and thunderstorms likely, some storms may be severe, low in the low 60s.

SATURDAY – MAY 16 – Partly sunny in the morning with a chance of an early shower then sunny and pleasant, high in the upper 70s.

SUNDAY – MAY 17 – Partly sunny and cooler with a chance of showers, high in the mid 60s.

MONDAY – MAY 18 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 60s.

TUESDAY – MAY 19 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 60s.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 20 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the low 60s.

THURSDAY – MAY 21 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the upper 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday morning for southwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Saturday or Sunday; advisories expected Monday and Tuesday with some gale gusts possible on Tuesday.
