Tropical storm Fay has moved north of our area up the Hudson Valley after dumping 3.27″ of rain in Clifton.

Today will be a partly sunny and quite warm day with very high humidity with dew points in the mid 70s. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop later this afternoon and continue into this evening. Rain may again be heavy at times which may cause additional flooding in some areas.

Sunday will be a dry day and will be hot, but the humidity will be lower than today with dew points in the mid 60s.

A front will give our area a good chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday.

The rest of next week looks mainly dry and very warm, the humidity will be moderate Tuesday and Wednesday but increase later in the week.

The main story today will be the approach of Tropical Storm Fay that will be moving into our area today. Rain from this system will begin around 10 a.m. and become very heavy this afternoon and continue into this evening. Flash flooding is likely with rainfall totals of 2-4 inches with higher amounts possible. As the storm gets closer to our area we will have some briefly strong winds late this afternoon into this evening with gusts to 40 mph possible.

The storm will move into New England on Saturday but a low pressure trough in our area will likely give us showers and thunderstorms. With more sunshine it will become quite warm and humid.

Quite warm and humid again on Sunday but with only a chance of some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Quite warm to hot most of next week with somewhat lower humidity. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday but at this point Wednesday and Thursday look to be dry.

Yesterday in Clifton we only had a trace of rain while some areas in upper Bergen County had over two inches of rain while Newark had over an inch.

Today will be a quieter day with mostly sunny skies, it will continue to be very warm and humid but we should stay dry.

A coastal low that may develop into Tropical Storm Fay will move into the area tomorrow with rain heavy at times beginning in the morning and lasting into the evening. Winds will not be that strong in our area but some gusty winds are possible along the coast. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are likely with possibly higher amounts.

The weekend will be quite warm to hot with showers and thunderstorms likely on Saturday and a lesser chance of showers on Sunday, it will continue to be humid.

Continued very warm to hot weather into the middle of next week with showers and thunderstorms possible Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

Yesterday’s heavy rain dumped over 2 inches of rain in one hour between 4 and 5 p.m. that caused considerable flooding in Clifton.

Today will not be as hot as an onshore flow along with considerable cloudiness will keep high temperatures in the 80s but the humidity will be high with dew points near 70. Also some scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are possible but we should not have the widespread flooding as we had yesterday.

Warmer and continued humid on Wednesday with still a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

We should be dry, hot and humid on Thursday.

A coastal low with possibly some tropical characteristics will likely give us rain possibly heavy Friday into Saturday, it will remain humid.
