Rain this morning tapering off to showers this afternoon with strong winds diminishing along with falling temperatures! Dry weather for the weekend, cold on Saturday, milder on Sunday!


Good morning!

Rain is falling over the area early on this Christmas morning and temperatures are unseasonably warm with readings ranging from the upper 50s in Clifton down to the low 50s further inland. Winds are strong from the south and there are reports of some trees and power lines down in the area.

The strong frontal system is moving through the area now and we will continue to have rain possibly heavy at times through this morning. The rain will taper off to showers this afternoon. Winds gusting above 40 mph will slowly diminish by this afternoon. Temperatures that are in the upper 50s now will fall to near 40 by sunset and down into the 20s by late tonight.

The weekend weather will be dry, Saturday will be chilly with highs only reaching to around freezing. Sunday will be milder after a cold early morning.

A weak frontal system may touch off a shower on Monday with milder temperatures.

Colder and dry Tuesday and Wednesday.

Another rather strong low pressure system will likely give us rain for New Year’s Eve along with milder temperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – DEC 25 – Rain mainly this morning possibly heavy at times, early highs in the upper 50s dropping to near 40 by sunset. Winds gusting to 45 mph this morning diminishing this afternoon with gusts to 25 mph.

TONIGHT – Becoming partly cloudy and colder, low in the mid 20s.

SATURDAY – DEC 26 – Mostly sunny and cold, high in the low 30s.

SUNDAY – DEC 27 – Sunny, high near 40.

MONDAY – DEC 28 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the afternoon, high in the upper 40s.

TUESDAY – DEC 29 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

WEDNESDAY – DEC 30 – Mostly sunny, high near 40.

THURSDAY – DEC 31 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 10 a.m. this morning for southerly winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 11-14 feet.

OUTLOOK: Advisories expected during the day on Saturday; no advisories expected for Saturday night through Sunday night; advisories expected Monday through the day on Tuesday; no advisories expected for Tuesday night through Wednesday.
