Cloudy and chilly today with some light freezing rain and sleet possible! Heavier freezing rain tonight changing to plain rain on Tuesday with an ice storm warning for areas further inland! Another storm Thursday into Friday with snow changing to rain!

Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. ranged from 30 in Clifton down to 21 at Vernon, winds are from the north around 5-10 mph. There may be some light freezing rain falling in some area inland.

Low pressure developing over the southeast states will cause cloudy and chilly conditions today with a chance of some light freezing rain mixed with sleet.

As the low pressure gets closer to our area we will have heavier freezing rain tonight changing to plain rain Tuesday morning. About a tenth of an inch of ice is expected in the Clifton area but above a quarter inch of ice across inland areas of the area where an ice storm warning is in effect. Clearing and milder Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday will be a dry but chilly day, but at least it will be mostly sunny.

Another significant storm is expected Thursday into Friday with snow during the day Thursday changing to rain by Friday morning.

A dry but chilly weekend is likely!

THURSDAY – FEB 18 – Snow, high in the low 30s. Snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain at night then to plain rain after midnight.

FRIDAY – FEB 19 – Mostly cloudy with rain likely in the morning, high in the low 40s.

SATURDAY – FEB 20 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 30s.

SUNDAY – FEB 21 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – North-northeast winds to 10 knots, seas 3-4 feet.

OUTLOOK – Advisories likely for Tuesday; no advisories expected for Wednesday; small craft advisories likely Thursday and Friday.

NOTE: A record breaking cold wave is occurring across much of the middle of the country. Texas is also having a serious ice storm with considerable power outages.
