Mostly cloudy and humid but not as hot with showers developing this afternoon! Heavy rain tonight into tomorrow morning as Tropical Storm Elsa moves up the coast! Seasonably warm weather over the weekend with another chance of showers on Sunday!

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and it is quite warm with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 74 in Clifton down to 64 at High Point. The humidity is moderate and the winds are mainly calm or light northerly.

Despite having a severe thunderstorm watch for yesterday afternoon and evening, we did not have any storms as most of the strong activity stayed well to our north.

Today a frontal system approaching our area will likely give us showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, some of the rain may be heavy at times.

Heavy rain tonight into Friday morning as Tropical Storm Elsa moves up the coast and just east of our area. Winds will not be an issue in our area but coastal areas may have some tropical storm force gusts. Total rainfall should average between 2-4 inches with some higher amounts possible in some areas. A flood watch is in effect.

The rest of Friday should be dry except for a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be a little above normal.

Seasonably warm temperatures will continue over the weekend, Saturday should be a dry day but showers again are possible on Sunday.

Unsettled weather into at least the middle of next week, with a chance of mainly afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms each day. Temperatures will be near seasonable levels Monday and Tuesday but we should warm up towards the end of next week.
