Today we will between a trough to our west and tropical storm Henri that is now 600 miles south of Long Island. Skies will be partly sunny with near seasonable temperatures but there will be a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Conditions will be humid with dew points near 70.

Tropical Storm Henri is expected to move up the coast and hit Long Island as a Category 1 hurricane on Sunday and then move slowly north. At this time rain heavy at times will begin late tonight and continue through Sunday. Rainfall amounts of 1-4 inches are possible with some higher amounts. At this time the winds in our area are not expected to be damaging with anticipated gusts to about 30 mph, however if the storm moves further west then winds will be higher.

Henri will move into New York state Sunday night and the rain should taper off.

Still a good chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday as Henri moves further north.

A heat wave is possible Tuesday through Thursday as the Bermuda high pressure dominates our weather. Tuesday and Wednesday should be dry but there will be a low chance of showers Thursday and Friday as a cold front approaches the area.

Will keep checking your site to see if the storm shifts more eastward! Right now, I might secure my outdoor furniture, not sure if it will hit us that badly. Maybe up to 40 MPH gusts? Keep up the good work AK!

Thanks Scooter. Almost 3 inches of rain fell last night with 3-6 inches more possible today into Monday. Winds will be maybe gusting to just 35 mph so that should not be much of an issue.
