One more day of heat and humidity today with more numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into tonight! Cooler on Saturday but still with a chance of showers! Mainly dry and seasonably cool on Sunday!

Skies are mostly clear on this Friday morning and once again it is quite warm and humid with temperatures at 5 a.m. ranging from 76 in Clifton down to 67 at Walpack. Winds are calm or light southwesterly.

NOTE: On this date 10 years ago Hurricane Irene caused massive flooding in our area with 9.27″ of rain falling on August 27th into the 28th.

One last day of heat and humidity today as the Bermuda high pressure moves offshore and a backdoor cold front approaches from the north. Highs today will again be in the 90s and dew points in the 70s will cause heat indexes to rise to over 100; a heat advisory remains in effect. Also showers and thunderstorms are likely later this afternoon through tonight, with some of the storms accompanied by very heavy downpours; a flash flood watch has been issued.

Saturday will be cooler as the front moves to our south and an onshore flow develops. The front will not be too far to our south so there is a chance of additional showers and thunderstorms.

Sunday should be mainly dry and the front to our south should move to our north as a warm front at night.

Quite warm and humid again on Monday with showers and thunderstorms likely.

A cold front will cross the area sometime on Tuesday and it will be warm but the humidity should drop by late in the day, however there still may be some showers lateTuesday night.

Unsettled weather for the middle of next week as some moisture from Tropical Storm Ida may move into our area. Ida is expected to intensify and come ashore near the New Orleans area.

TODAY – AUG 27 – Partly sunny, hot and humid with showers and thunderstorms likely mainly after 2 p.m. some storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, high in the low 90s. A heat advisory and a flash flood watch is in effect.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely mainly in the evening, some storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, humid, low in the upper 60s.

SATURDAY – AUG 28 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, cooler but staying humid, high in the upper 70s.

SUNDAY – AUG 29 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny, humid, high in the low 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 30 – Partly sunny with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening, humid, high in the upper 80s.

TUESDAY – AUG 31 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 80s. Chance of showers after midnight.

WEDNESDAY – SEP 1 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the upper 70s.

THURSDAY – SEP 2 – Partly sunny with a chance of morning showers, high in the upper 70s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Variable winds less than 5 knots, seas less than 1 foot. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 75 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft advisories on Saturday; no advisories expected Sunday through Tuesday.
