Sunny and pleasantly warm for the first weekend of October! Unsettled weather much of next week with a chance of showers each day!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 51 in Clifton down to 40 at Pequest. Winds are mainly calm or light southwesterly.

High pressure moving to our south will give our area a southwest flow of warmer air today and with plenty of sunshine high temperatures will rise well up into the 70s.

Sunday will even be a little warmer warmer with highs in the low 80s. Skies again will be mostly sunny but we should see an increase in clouds at night as a cold front approaches from the north.

The front will be in our area or just to our south much of next week which will give our area a chance of showers each day with the highest chance Monday night into Tuesday. Temperatures will continue to be mild Monday and Tuesday and then fall to near normal by Wednesday.

TODAY – OCT 2 – Sunny, high in the upper 70s.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, low in the upper 50s.

SUNDAY – OCT 3 – Sunny, high in the low 80s.

MONDAY – OCT 4 – Cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the upper 70s.

TUESDAY – OCT 5 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the mid 70s.

WEDNESDAY – OCT 6 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 70s.

THURSDAY – OCT 7 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 70s.

FRIDAY – OCT 8 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 70s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 4 p.m. this afternoon until 6 a.m. Sunday morning for southwest winds to 20 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Sunday afternoon through Wednesday.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR SEPTEMBER 2021.

Temperatures for the month averaged 69.0 degrees which was 2.8 degrees above normal.

Highest temperature was 87 on the 15th; lowest temperature was 50 on the 29th.

Precipitation was well above normal with 11.14″ accumulating. 8.44″ of this was from the remnants of Hurricane Ida on the 1st into the morning of the 2nd which caused widespread damaging and deadly floods in our area.
