Mostly cloudy and warmer today! Storm to give area heavy rain and strong winds tonight through Tuesday! Brief break in rain Wednesday and Thursday before another potential strong storm for Friday into Saturday!

Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and some light rain is falling in parts of the area. Temperatures are around 10 degrees warmer than this time yesterday with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 55 in Clifton down to 49 at Wantage. Winds are light and variable.

Showers should end early this morning as a warm front moves north of the area. Today will be a mostly cloudy and warmer day with temperatures rising into the 70s.

A strong coastal low will affect our area tonight through Tuesday night causing heavy rain and strong gusty winds. Rainfall in our area will be around 2-4 inches and winds will gust to near 40 mph. A flash flood watch is in effect.

Some early showers Wednesday morning then we should see some sunshine with seasonable temperatures during the day. Thursday will be sunny with continued seasonable temperatures.

Another potentially strong storm will likely give us more rain Friday into Saturday.

At this time Halloween seems like it will be a nice day with highs in the low 60s, which is milder than last year when the highs were only in the upper 40s.

Also it now appears that for the first time since at least 1973 that our low temperatures didn’t fall below 40 degrees in October.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – OCT 25 – Showers ending by 7 a.m. then mostly cloudy and warmer, high in the mid 70s.

TONIGHT – Rain with possible thunderstorms, rain may be heavy at times, low in the mid 50s.

TUESDAY – OCT 26 – Rain with possible thunderstorms, rain may be heavy at times. Windy with northerly gusts to 40 mph possible, high near 60. A flash flood watch is in effect for rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches possible.

WEDNESDAY – OCT 27 – Showers ending in the morning then becoming prtly sunny in the afternoon, high in the low 60s.

THURSDAY – OCT 28 – Sunny, high in the low 60s.

FRIDAY – OCT 29 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely, high near 60.

SATURDAY – OCT 30 – Cloudy with showers likely, high in the low 60s.

HALLOWEEN – OCT 31 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny in the afternoon, high in the low 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning for southerly winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch is in effect valid Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon; small craft advisories still likely Wednesday night; small craft advisories possible during the day on Thursday for high seas; gales possible Thursday night through Friday.
