Slow clearing, breezy and cool today! Mainly dry weather this week with near seasonable temperatures!

Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there are still some showers over parts of the area that may be mixed with snow across the higher elevations inland. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 41 in Clifton down to 33 at High Point. Winds are brisk out of the northwest.

The frontal system that gave us the light rain and drizzle yesterday is moving offshore and a brisk northwest flow of drier air will be with us today. There may be a rain or snow shower early this morning then skies will gradually clear. With colder air coming in temperatures will not rise much with most highs in the low 40s.

Early morning lows tomorrow may be the coldest of the season so far with temperatures falling to the low 20s which is only a couple of degrees below normal. During the day we will have sunny skies with continued seasonable cool with highs again in the low 40s but with less wind than today.

Much if not all of this coming week will be dry with near normal temperatures.

At this time it appears that Christmas Day will still be dry with highs near 50.

TODAY – DEC 19 – Gradual clearing, breezy and cool, high in the low 40s.

TONIGHT – Clear and chilly, low in the low 20s.

MONDAY – DEC 20 – Sunny, high in the low 40s.

TUESDAY – DEC 21 – Sunny, high in the upper 40s.

WEDNESDAY – DEC 22 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

THURSDAY – DEC 23 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

FRIDAY – DEC 24 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

CHRISTMAS DAY – DEC 25 – Partly sunny, high near 50.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. Monday morning for northwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-5 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Monday through Wednesday morning; possible advisories for late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night; no advisories expected on Thursday.
