Light snow ending early this morning then some sunshine and milder during the day! Periods of rain and mild on Christmas Day! Mostly sunny, breezy and continued mild on Sunday!

Good morning everyone!

Light snow is falling in our area early this morning and here in the Clifton area we have our first measurable snow of the season as around 1/2″ coating has accumulated. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 29 in Clifton down to 22 at High Point. Winds are mainly calm.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR DECEMBER 24TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 40 AVERAGE LOW: 23

RECORD HIGH: 71 – 2015 RECORD LOW: 0 – 1989 AND 1983

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 36 LOW: 26 PRECIPITATION: NONE

The weak disturbance which caused the overnight light snow will be moving offshore and the snow should end by dawn. We should see some sunshine by later this morning and temperatures will rise into the upper 40s which will more than likely melt the snow that is on the ground this morning. We should see an increase in clouds again by this evening.

Christmas Day will be mild but with periods of mainly light rain, some of the rain will start off as a mixture of sleet or snow mainly well inland. High temperatures will be near 50 degrees.

Clearing on Sunday with continued mild temperatures but it will be a bit windy.

Unsettled weather much of next week as a few weak disturbances move through our area. Temperatures however will average above normal so any precipitation should be mainly in the form of rain.
