Rain tapering off early this morning with snow showers possible this afternoon! Sunny, chilly and windy on Tuesday! Mild on Wednesday with a chance of rain and snow showers at night! Bitter cold Friday into the weekend!

A stormy overnight with winds gusting over 40 mph with heavy rain. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 37 in Clifton down to 28 at High Point where some freezing rain and sleet are occurring. The barometer is quite low with a pressure of 29.17″

The strong storm is moving across Pennsylvania this morning and will move northward into Canada today. The steady and heavy rain will taper off by sunrise and we will have a cloudy day today with a chance of snow showers this afternoon. It will remain rather windy but not as gusty as we had overnight. Temperatures near 40 this morning will fall to around freezing by sunset. Clearing tonight but winds will still gust to over 30 mph.

Sunny weather returns on Tuesday as high pressure builds over the area, temperatures will be chilly and winds will still gust to over 30 mph at times.

Wednesday will be the mildest day of the week as high pressure moves offshore, high temperatures will rise into the 40s. A cold front will cross the area Thursday morning that may cause some rain or snow showers.

Bitter cold weather Friday into the weekend and we will be tracking a potential storm on the weekend. At the present time most computer models have the storm well offshore but that may change.

TODAY – JAN 17 – Cloudy with rain tapering off early this morning, chance of snow showers this afternoon, winds gusting to 35 mph. Temperatures in the low 40s this morning will drop to the low 30s by sunset.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy and windy, gusts to 35 mph, low in the mid 20s.

TUESDAY – JAN 18 – Sunny and breezy with gusts to 30 mph, high in the mid 30s.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 19 – Mostly cloudy, high in the mid 40s. Chance of rain and snow showers at night.

THURSDAY – JAN 20 – Becoming partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

FRIDAY – JAN 21 – Mostly sunny and cold, high in the mid 20s.

SATURDAY – JAN 22– Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the upper 30s.

SUNDAY – JAN 23 – Partly sunny, high in the low 30s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning for southwest winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 10-15 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories expected to continue on Tuesday; advisories possible Wednesday through Friday.
