Light rain ending around sunrise then clearing and colder today! Sunny and chilly on Friday! Mostly cloudy and milder on Saturday! Very mild Sunday into Monday with showers likely!

Light rain is falling over much of the area early on this Thursday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 41 in Clifton down to 29 at High Point. Winds are from the west around 10 mph.

The disturbance that is giving us some light rain this morning will move offshore today, some wet snow flakes may mix with the rain before ending especially inland. The precipitation should end by dawn followed by mostly sunny skies this afternoon. Temperatures in the low 40s this morning will fall to the mid 30s by sunset.

Friday will be a dry but a chilly day with early lows in the teens and afternoon highs mostly in the upper 30s.

Milder over the weekend, Saturday should be mostly cloudy with highs in the 40s. A warm front will move to our north on Sunday accompanied by some showers and followed by much warmer air, highs may approach the 70 degree mark in some areas.

Showers are likely Monday and Tuesday, highs on Monday will still be in the 60s and in the 50s on Tuesday.

Dry with temperatures still a little above normal on Wednesday.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear and cold, low in the upper teens.

FRIDAY – MAR 4 – Sunny and cold, high in the upper 30s.

SATURDAY – MAR 5 – Mostly cloudy and not as chilly, high in the upper 40s.

SUNDAY – MAR 6 – Mostly cloudy and quite mild with showers likely, high in the mid 60s.

MONDAY – MAR 7 – Cloudy with showers likely, high in the low 60s.

TUESDAY – MAR 8 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 50s.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 9 – Sunny, high in the low 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 3 a.m. Friday morning for north-northwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Friday and Saturday; advisories may be needed for Sunday and Monday.
