Rain ending this morning then remaining mostly cloudy today with seasonable temperatures! Mostly sunny and warmer on Friday! Very hot weather for the weekend!

Rain is falling over the area early on this Thursday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 53 in Clifton down to 48 degrees at High Point. Winds are mainly calm.

A low pressure disturbance will move off the coast today and the rain should end by 8-9 a.m., skies will remain mostly cloudy with only some slow clearing late in the day. Temperatures will be near seasonable levels.

A warm front will push to our north on Friday with a southwest flow of warmer air as highs reach the 80s.

Very hot weather for the weekend with some record high temperatures possible. Saturday looks to be the hottest day with highs reaching the mid 90s in much of the area with an increase in humidity. Sunday will only be a couple of degrees cooler. A cold front may cause some showers late in the day and evening.

Cooler temperatures Monday through at least Wednesday and although much of this period will remain dry there be a chance of some light showers each day.

FRIDAY – MAY 20 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 80s.

SUNDAY – MAY 22 – Partly sunny and hot with a chance of afternoon and evening showers, high in the low 90s.

MONDAY – MAY 23 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny with a chance of showers, cooler, highs in the mid 70s.

TUESDAY – MAY 24 Partly sunny in the morning, mostly cloudy in the afternoon, high in the low 70s, chance of showers at night.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 25 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 70s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southeast winds becoming north-northwest around 10 knots, seas 1 foot or less.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Friday through Monday.
