The high will move off the coast on Sunday and we should see an increase in clouds and humidity during the day and as moisture moves up from the south there will be a chance of showers for the afternoon and night.

Enjoyable late summer weather is expected for the weekend with seasonably warm temperatures continuing. Saturday will be sunny with dew points in the comfortable 50s. Clouds and an increase in humidity for Sunday but we should remain dry as high pressure slowly moves offshore.

Just like last week the best chance of showers will be Monday and Tuesday. The humidity will be high and some showers may be heavy at times.

Fair weather returns for Wednesday and Thursday as high pressure again builds into our area, temperatures will continue to be above normal but the humidity will lower.

Today will be a warm and humid day as high pressure moves offshore and a cold front was to our north and west. There is a chance of some afternoon and evening showers and possibly some thunderstorms. High temperatures will be well up into the 80s with dew points in the upper 60s.

Significant well needed rainfall is now expected with showers heavy at times with some thunderstorms especially from Monday evening through Tuesday. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are expected. With the cloudy cover and an onshore wind high temperatures will be near 80 on Monday and only in the mid 70s on Tuesday but it will be humid with dew points in the mid to upper 60s. A slow moving cold front will be in our area.

At this time Wednesday through the beginning of next weekend should be dry but some models show a possible disturbance along the front to our south that would give us lingering showers Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will be near normal Wednesday and Thursday and rise to above normal Friday and Saturday.

High pressure building over our area will give us abundant sunshine today, high will be slightly lower than yesterday along with continued comfortable humidity and the winds will be lighter than yesterday.

Sunday will be a warmer and more humid day ahead of a cold front, there is a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

With the front in the area showers are likely on Labor Day with cooler temperatures but still on the humid side.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR AUGUST 2022

The average temperature for the month was 79.0 degrees which was well above normal and it was the warmest August since my records began in 1973. We had a record 17 days of 90 degrees or higher for the month. The highest temperature was 97 degrees set on the 4th, 8th and 9th. The lowest temperature was 60 on the 14th. It was the 10th driest August with only 1.93″ accumulating. Note: The period from August 21st through Sep 2nd only 1.14″ of rain this year while the same period last year we recorded 15.19″ of rain mainly due to Hurricanes Henri and Ida.
