Rainfall in Clifton since yesterday only totaled .88″ while parts of the Hudson Valley had 5-8 inches in a short time yesterday afternoon that caused considerable flooding. Also up to 6 inches of rainfall accumulated over parts of eastern Pennsylvania along with parts of northwest New Jersey.

Today will be a much quieter weather day with early morning clouds giving way to mostly sunny skies with lower humidity, but there still will be a chance of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.

High pressure will dominate our weather Tuesday and Wednesday giving us mostly sunny skies both days and it will become quite warm to hot both days with low to moderate humidity.

Another slow moving frontal system will cause a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms each day Thursday through the weekend with an increase in humidity.

A slow moving frontal system will cause showers and thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and become heavy at times through tonight. A flood watch is in effect as 1-2 inches of rainfall can be expected with some higher amounts possible. High temperatures will be a little lower today with the clouds and precipitation, but the humidity will remain high with dew points in the 70s.

The front will be slow to move offshore so showers and thunderstorms are likely on Monday, but shower chances decrease by Monday night along with less humid air.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR JUNE 2023.

June’s average temperature was 68.8 which was 1.2 degrees below normal and was the coolest June since 2009. The highest temperature was 94 degrees on the 2nd and the lowest was 47 on the 4th. Precipitation was a little below normal with 3.40″ with almost half of the rainfall was on the 26th and 27th. We had smoke at times during the month from the Canadian wildfires with the 7th being the worst day with terrible air quality and the sun being totally blocked out causing a weird yellow glow.
