Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and there are some showers and thunderstorms in the area. Temperatures range from 73 in Clifton down to 67 at High Point. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is good with an index of 31.

A cold front will move to our east this morning with most of the showers and thunderstorms ending by 8 a.m. The front will be followed by clearing and becoming much less humid as dew points near 70 this morning will fall to the 50s by this evening.

Very nice weather for the weekend as high pressure builds into the area. There will be plenty of sunshine both days, Saturday will be cool but warmer temperatures can be expected for Sunday.

Monday will be quite warm to hot with moderate humidity A cold front will cross the area at night with no precipitation expected.

Mainly dry weather the rest of next week with near seasonable temperatures.

TODAY – AUG 18 – Cloudy this morning with showers and thunderstorms ending by 8 a.m. some storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, clearing and becoming much less humid by late this afternoon, highs in the mid 80s.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, cooler and less humid, lows in the upper 50s.

SATURDAY – AUG 19 – Mostly sunny, highs near 80.

SUNDAY – AUG 20 – Sunny and warmer, highs in the upper 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 21 – Mostly sunny and hot, highs in the low 90s.

TUESDAY – AUG 22 – Mostly sunny and cooler, highs near 80.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 23 – Mostly sunny, highs near 80.

THURSDAY – AUG 24 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight for west-southwest winds to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 75 degrees.
