Good morning everyone!
Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and it is warm and humid with some patchy fog in some areas. Temperatures range from 70 in Clifton down to 64 at Hackettstown, Walpack and High Point. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is moderate with and index of 56.
CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR SEPTEMBER 9TH:
AVERAGE HIGH: 77 AVERAGE LOW: 59
RECORD HIGH: 92 – 2015 RECORD LOW: 44 – 1990
YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 92 LOW: 68 PRECIPITATION: .28″
After having the longest September heatwave since my records began with each day having temperatures of 90 degrees or more, today will be less hot with highs mostly in the mid to upper 80s. The humidity will remain high as a weak front will be in our area. Also afternoon and evening showers are likely with some heavy rain possible.
More of the same on Sunday with high humidity and with showers and thunderstorms again likely, high temperatures will be a couple of degrees cooler than today with highs mainly in the low 80s.
The frontal system will be slow to move through the area so Monday will again be humid with mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms likely.
There may be a brief break in the showers on Tuesday but should redevelop for Wednesday and Thursday.
Finally the trough will move offshore and Friday looks to be a comfortable day with seasonably mild temperatures and much less humidity.
Meanwhile Hurricane Lee has weakened somewhat with top winds of 115 mph, Lee is expected to strengthen again and reach to 140 mph in a couple of days. The track of the storm has it well offshore of our area, but high surf along with dangerous rip currents are likely for our Jersey beaches later this week.
