Skies are clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures have fallen into the teens in Clifton for the first time this season. Temperatures range from 16 in Clifton down to 6 at Walpack. Winds are a little gusty out of the northwest. The air quality is good with an index of 30. Be careful walking or driving this morning as there may be black ice on untreated sidewalks and roads.

Strong Arctic high pressure centered over the lower Mississippi Valley will give us a west-northwest flow of very cold air, high temperatures will only be in the 20s and it will feel colder as some gusts to 25 mph are possible. At least the skies will be sunny.

Becoming cloudy on Thursday with highs a couple of degrees higher than today.

A weak low pressure area is expected to give us light snow on Friday. Accumulations of 1-2 inches are expected with a little more to the south and less to our north.

The low pressure will be followed by another Arctic high pressure and the weekend looks to be quite cold and wiindy.

Mainly dry weather early next week with moderating temperatures.

MONDAY – JAN 22 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 30s.

TUESDAY – JAN 23 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 40s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday morning for westerly winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected for Thursday; advisories likely on Friday; advisories continuing over the weekend with some gales possible.
