Skies are cloudy early on this Thursday morning and there is some lingering drizzle falling in parts of the area. Temperatures range from 54 in Clifton down to 49 at High Point. Winds are light mainly out of the northeast. The air quality is moderate with an index of 54.

The low pressure that gave us the rain yesterday is moving off the coast and today will be cloudy in the morning but some sunshine is possible this afternoon with milder temperatures.

Another low pressure system will give us showers and possibly some thunderstorms Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will be mild and it will be rather muggy.

High pressure will then build into the area on Sunday with mostly sunny skies and cool temperatures.

High pressure will remain in control much of next week with dry conditions and warmer temperatures.

TODAY – MAY 29 – Cloudy this morning then some sunny breaks this afternoon, not as cool, highs in the low 70s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers after midnight, lows near 60.

FRIDAY – MAY 30 – Cloudy with showers likely, highs in the upper 70s.

SATURDAY – MAY 31 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms, this in the low 70s.

SUNDAY – JUNE 1 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 60s.

MONDAY – JUNE 2 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 70s.

TUESDAY – JUNE 3 – Sunny, highs near 80.

WEDNESDAY – JUNE 4 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect for high seas until 6 p.m. this evening. Northwest wind to 15 knots, seas 4-7 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected for Friday; advisories likely for Saturday; no advisories expected Sunday and Monday.
