Still a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday then gradually becoming less humid by later in the day! Very pleasant summer weather Thursday through the weekend! Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are warmer than this time yesterday with readings ranging form 68 in Clifton down to 59 at Walpack. Winds are calm or light southerly. The air quality is good with an index of 48.

A strong frontal system will give us some heavy showers and possibly some strong to severe thunderstorms today. The warm front with this system will move through this morning with some showers and thunderstorms likely. There may be a break in the rain in the afternoon but strong to severe thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon and this evening. Rainfall amounts should average between 1-2 inches with locally higher amounts to over 4 inches possible. A flood watch has been posted. Also there could be some damaging thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening with even an isolated tornado. It will become much more humid with dew points in the 70s.

The cold front with this system will come through Wednesday morning with a chance of a lingering shower and thunderstorm, followed by clearing and becoming much less humid by evening.

Some very pleasant summer weather is expected Thursday through the weekend with plenty of sunshine each day along with comfortable temperatures and humidity as high pressure builds into our area.

A weak front may give us a chance of showers on Monday.

TONIGHT – Showers and strong to severe thunderstorms this evening, humid, lows in the low 70s.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 22 – Cloudy in the morning with a chance of showers and thunderstorms then clearing by later in the afternoon and becoming less humid, highs in the upper 80s.

THURSDAY – JULY 23 – Sunny, highs in the low 80s.

FRIDAY – JULY 24 – Sunny, highs in the low 80s.

SATURDAY – JULY 25 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

SUNDAY – JULY 26 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

MONDAY – JULY 27 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, highs in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory has been posted effective between noon today through 6 p.m. Wednesday evening for southerly winds to 30 knots, seas 4-7 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 74 degrees.

OUTLOOK: No advisories are expected Thursday through Saturday.
