Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from 64 in Clifton down to 56 at High Point. Winds are light from the northeast. The air quality is good with an index of 31.

A frontal system to our south will give us cloudy skies today with showers likely developing by the afternoon with possibly some thunderstorms. It will be breezy and cool throughout the day and at night.
Hurricane Erin will make its closest approach to our area on Thursday remaining about 400 miles to our southeast. Breezy conditions will continue especially along the coast. Also along the coast there will be high surf along with dangerous rip currents. Skies should remain mostly cloudy and temperatures will be below normal.
High pressure will then build into our area on Friday giving us a mostly sunny and a milder day.
The weekend will have seasonably warm temperatures but a frontal system will give us a chance of showers Sunday afternoon into Monday.
Dry and pleasant weather is expected for Tuesday.

OUTLOOK: A gale watch has been posted effective between 6 a.m. Thursday morning through 6 a.m. Friday morning; advisories expected to continue for high seas on Friday through the weekend.
